I agree.
It's a tool for making teasers.

I sent a email to beta@soundpaint.com, is this correct email for BETA testing?

This isn't clearly something to be "played", nor a performance tool but rather a sound design tool, so I don't think MPE is a priority. CPU optimization and system compatibility, progranability and a good GUI should be the most important concerns, right now.
Sounddesign didn‘t exist before MPE (I know I exaggerate, but sounds want to be played…). If you didn‘t try it yet, you cannot understand, which is understandable…
And just mentioning velocity shows a focus on expression from their side…

A sample is a sample regardless of its representation. Of course I could store a FFT representation of a sample or even a wavelet representation and start to tweak the frequency domain like in Metasynth or Iris and that way could get into new territory, but why not being more specific? If they worked on it for 8 years, nobody will be able to steal it before release. If they keep it as secret then only 8dio could create new stuff and sell it as presets.
What I heard so far sounds nice, but could have been done in a million different ways with existing tools…

Does anyone here on KVR have the beta yet?

Post

my eyes kinda rolled when they first started talking about it and mentioned "infinite velocity"....they said it not physical modeling, they say it's not granular, but "SOUNDPAINT does have granular tools"...and yet involves creation of a new "sample format"...but like others said the velocity is constrained by midi standard and you cant get out resolution that didn't go in...so most likely they are using samples for parts of the envelope, and synthesis for other parts of the envelope...isn't audio modeling and SWAM doing that now?, as well as workstation keyboard programmers been doing for decades?...or may be they are doing something similar to Abyss?
either way it is doubtful you will be able to use your own content, at least in the beginning...due to the tech and the business model...
the reality is most marketing is hyperbolic today for a reason...the market isn't driven by the functionality checkbox folks on one extreme, nor the just trust my ears folks on the other extreme,....its driven by the hive mind and hype machine of plugin collectors...so they know exactly who they are aiming their marketing at...can't blame em...jus wait for the demo and evaluate...whatever the truth is will be self evident

Music had a one night stand with sound design.....And the condom broke

I think we'd be talking about it if anyone had any form of beta yet. Yeah, someone either decided "minimum 2-week beta teaser to keep them salivating from our curious videos" or they are experiencing technical issues which are preventing beta release.

I'm just bored of it already. It's going to need to be absolutely astoundingly fantasticly high quality, to keep folks interested after the last strange two weeks of not-being-able-to-manage-a-beta-email-address-account.

They've given us the impression that "there's never been anything like this ever before" which is unlikely, but absolutely possible. I just wish their comms were a bit more ... just more.

Folks at VI-Control told me there likely would be a non-disclosure agreement for beta testers, so maybe we would not hear about it from them.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Fair point. Does that stop them from saying "the beta process has started"?

Has anyone had any response from the either of the two email addresses?

According this poster, it did start: https://vi-control.net/community/thread ... st-4898089

Bummer that they aren't notifying would-be beta testers, if that's the case.

There is an NDA for all beta testers. More information will be released soon ;)

We've been in beta for many months. Just want to make sure it's ready ;)

Okay, that one morphed a human voice and a clarinet/flute sound, it seemed. If it has some sweet morphing abilities--not just cross fading--that are a step up from Zynatpiq Morph, that would be something.
