I'm having all kinds of issues with Emulator X.
I downloaded and installed the latest File Converter patch.
Problem 1
---------
When I try to convert EMU's own sample CD's I get the following errors:
1. Run Emulator X File Converter
2. Click on Add(EIII, ESi, S1000...)
Error: Device not available..., clik Ok, and still takes me to Add Files dialog box. So it shows my Sony CD/DVD drive under SCSI ATAPI Drivers (no idea why since it is a IDE drive). I click on Sony and get the following Error:
"Your Emu disk has a checksum flay that may prevent your Emu sampler (usually older ones) from recognizing the disk....Fix Emu disk" -- options are Yes, No, Help. If I select Yes it loops (stuck), if I select No it shows the folders on CD?? Go figure. So if I select Add I then get the same CheckSumer flay error message as before.
Keep in mind, when I'm running Emulator X and browse the same sample CD (Super Strings) and load the samples no problem, can play them back no problems, etc. etc.
Problem 2
---------
Also, I click on the Emulator X help from my Program Group shortcut and it can't find the file. I had to manually go to the CD and copy the file over the appropriate location and rename it to match what the shortcut was looking for.
Problem 3
---------
When loading samples from CD (i.e. Super Strings), all my presets appear to be layered when I play from my MIDI keyboard, but NOT when I click on the EmuX "virtual keyboard".
Problem 4
---------
Sonar 4 PE and/or Project 5 will crash EVERY time when I run EmulatorX VSTi. Works for a few minutes then CPU goes red and crashes.
Problem 5
---------
Emulator X stand alone, CPU usage goes thru the roof even on a simple (no affects) sample (i.e. Piano).
I've got EmulatorX set to ASIO 96Khz 24bit (matched to PatchMixDSP).
I have a reasonably powerful system based on an ASUS motherboard running Intel 875 chipset and Intel P4 3.2Ghz with 800Mhz FSB and 7200rpm 8MB hard drives and 1GB memory (corsair TWINX).
I can run Sonar 4 PE and Project 5 with a ton of DXi/VSTi running and never hit a CPU limit and no sample issues at all. It's whenever I touch EmulatorX all hell breaks loose -- this product is VERY rough at the edges. I know I sound pretty negative, but please understand I've spent many many many hours working with EmulatorX and it is just a horrible experience. Unfortunate since the 1820m is such good hardware.

Is version 1.5 out yet, if not it might be best to hold tight for that. These problems scare me away from buying emulator x.Also heard of major problems with Uad that can be fixed with some patch or something.Check out http://www.emusonacid.co.uk/
