A plugin to change Polarity (zero latency)?

I'm looking for a plugin with which i can change the polarity of a signal.
The old Betabug Phasebug does this, but i'm hoping to find a more modern 64bit plugin, possibly zero latency.

Which DAW are you using? I would imagine that your mixer will be able to do this or there will be a stock utility plugin for this task.
Unless you are looking for a phase rotator? - which is essentially an all pass filter. Though I would still expect your DAW to have something that can perform this task.

Not zero - latency, yet still the best one I have found so far.

Right, can't believe i completely forgot checking Voxengo.El°HYM wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 2:29 pm Not zero - latency, yet still the best one I have found so far.

It appears to be exactly what i need. Thanks!
Hopefully the latency is low.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm not looking for a phase rotator. You're right that most any DAW can inverse polarity, but not a manual offset. Sorry i think my title could have been more clear.Unaspected wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 2:28 pm Which DAW are you using? In any case take care that polarity it's a kind of time shifting...

I use this
https://www.meldaproduction.com/MAutoAlign
The auto function is random, i don't like it, but the manual setting work like a charm

IIRC Variety of Sound have a Phase section on the preFIX plugin...

Seem to have the same latency as Melda AutoAlign ... 1024spls while Voxengo PHA-979 seems to have 4450spls according to Reaper...

Exactly, and you can only inverse polarity either negatively or positively. You said you don't want a phase rotator, but seems you do actually do want a phase rotator
Seems you are looking for a linear phase rotator though meaning that phase offset is the same amount for all frequencies like in PHA-979, Audiocation API, Betabugs Phasebug, Izotope Alloy. Either way, still a phase rotator you are after, not a polarity plugin. which also means that it can't be zero latency since you need FIR filters with long kernels to make the phases of all frequencies zero, even with a phase rotator

No, again, i'm not looking for a phase rotator. I want to freely change the polarity of a signal anywhere in the range between 1 and -1. Left and Right independent. I'm not trying to get something in phase with something else. I can do that fine moving it in time.TIMT wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:35 pmExactly, and you can only inverse polarity either negatively or positively. Then you are talking about independent phase adjustment of left and right channels - this is different to switching polarity. It could be done in the track lane of your DAW - depending on which DAW you are using - or the mixer of any DAW - which would grant more options.zeep wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 10:05 pmNo, again, i'm not looking for a phase rotator. Polarity will give you the option of rotating a signal by 180 degrees, whereas you want access to the full circle and are therefore addressing phase.

I understood perfectly well what you want, and that it is not polarity related. What you are looking for and asking for is a phase rotator that rotates phase, but does so that the shift/rotation is the same for all frequencies, unlike an allpass filter which is a nonlinear phase rotator, meaning shift is variable depending on frequency and the polarity(as in actual polarity aka fixed polar direction that isn't variable, not what you think is polarity) of the allpass. That is not the same thing as a delay either.zeep wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 10:05 pmNo, again, i'm not looking for a phase rotator. That setting in PHA-979 that clearly says "phase"on the tab with dials for both left and right? is a phase rotator whether you accept it or not. Add yourself to the long list of people though that doesn't understand the difference between polarity, phase, and delay lines. Guess your not entirely to blame though when there is loads of people spreading misinformation about the them all being interchangable

Thanks for taking to the time to reply again.
Phase is relative to another signal. And relative to another signal, polarity can have an effect on phase yes.
I want to change the position in a cycle without delaying it. And i was searching for a plugin to do that.
After some googling, i thought a plugin that can alter polarity could be used for that.
In retrospect this is likely the wrong wording.
Phasebug works in the time domain and PHA-979 (haven't tried this one yet) probably too.
I understand the difference between phase and time and polarity.
