Oh man, just f**k off, seriously, you stupid f**king dumb person. How can you POSSIBLY have any backside left to f**king talk out of?

Is this board absolutely fed up with this Village Idiot or what?
really?? c'mon dude. this reply is more distorted than fuzzy. It's ok for someone not to like a particular guitar pedal.

On the actual topic though - I reckon Decapitator would get you most of the way there.

edit: whoops, just replied to something from 2008.... :hihi:

while his words were a little overboard, hes not wrong.
the muff is a classic!
not liking it is one thing, but to say the worst distortion is better is hogwash of the hoggiest washiest order!

it's subjective though, that was on the first page and the truth is I really have never cared for fuzz and the fact is I never cared for eh...my preference was either maestro, mxr or morley for pedals then. Still I preferred od to fuzz, I find fuzz subtracts from my sustain as opposed to how od works for me. As for the person who made the comment, c'mon vurt...the context is not here for most people, if people understood rene (midiworks) and the game he played here, they wouldnt even comment.

_leras, I highly doubt sickle will be responding, that post is a teenager now

preference is fine, as i said, not liking the muff is fine, but to ignore or put it down, thats forgetting the years of use on great records, which isnt subjective.

i dont remember/know rene
but ill defend muff with all my heart and soul, i love muff :P

Indeed.

This would be my favourite emulation so far: https://www.audiority.com/shop/big-goat/

If you're into industrial sound then it can also impart a certain something on vocals with the right settings.

I used to favour overdrive, myself, but as I got into more stoner/doom stuff, I fell in love with fuzz. I love failing technology as inspiration for sound design as well - the grottier and more broken, the better.

forgive me, I'm a newbie to guitar tone

Indeed. I love distortion in all its flavours. It's always been my favourite effect and mixing tool.

But this thread is all about Muff.

And the bigger, the better!

I had a real one. That, through an 8" 60's Sears catalog amp was quite freaking cool… :o
