Updated skin posted in the first post! There are 3 versions of the FX section. One colorful (stomp-box style), one gray, and a gray one with colorful labels.
Hey, thanks a lot! :)
This skin is getting awesome!

A few weeks back, I replaced the original palish blue of the "Hive" logo in the header and in the graphs with a sweet electric blue.
Well, it's probably too dark, now… Anyway, in Scripts > Hive.txt, just check these two lines:
COLOUR name='GraphColor' rgba='37b2ffdc'
COLOUR name='GraphColor-Filter' rgba='37b2ffdc'
Then replace the value '37b2ffdc' with your own value (mine was '4d65ffff').

Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 8:00 pm I quite like the colorful version with the black menus. I'll provide the gray and colorful versions and let users mod it.
EDIT: Hmmm I might go with this, (all FX On).

I'm going to grey them all out and see how that looks.

EDIT2: Nope I'm going with this with the black labels on the right side.

I can upload both versions if anyone is interested.

I really like the new FX backgrounds as they give a nice separation between units.

One other issue I've noticed even going all the way back to the Izmo skin is that bi-polar knobs and uni-polar knobs display the same at certain values. One knob is set to 50% and one is set to -100 in this screenshot:

Anyway thanks for your continued work on Gizmo. I've been trying to use it more although I do still prefer the look of original skin with some edits. :tu:

colours!! That looks better.

Post

Tek, or anyone else, if folks want to use this thread to post alternate elements, I think that's a great idea.

Ok that's cool. :tu:

I knocked all the colors off except the Mod colors because those actually make sense to me. I find everything else just distracting. For example I don't need the waveforms to be colored or the FX to have separate colors. Certainly not to everyone's taste but I find subdued GUIs much more comfortable for long periods of viewing.

This is excellent, thanks. I just want to comment on one thing. The following instruction was not clear to me:

"New FX Pane with 3 Options: 1) Colorful (default), 2) Gray (Alt1) 3) Gray with colorful labels (Alt2). Just navigate to the "Pictures" folder, backup the default options, and rename BG-BottomTabFX_Alt1"

I couldn't understand that. What I did was remove the _Alt1 suffix from the version I wanted and it replaced it.

Maybe that will help someone. :)

Thanks, I tried to clarify. But yeah, the theme looks for the image name so it's just a matter of making the one you want to use called BG-BottomTabFX.png.

Couple of things I've noticed but I have no idea if this is Hive code or the skin. When adding keytracking to osc 1 pan, the yellow ring goes only one way (unipolar) when the modulation is actually going both ways round (bipolar). A small gripe of course.

Actually, I've just noticed all modulation is like this. Shouldn't the "mod rings" go both ways for unipolar? Maybe I am used to that from another synth.

Post

Also, I keep trying to click the effects names ON the effects to activate them instead of going over to the list of effects on the right. I would really like to be able to switch them on/off from the actual effect. Is that a skin thing, or a Hive thing??

Does this happen in the release version of regular Izmo too? Might be a bug in the skin.

I honestly don't know enough to answer this. You'd think in theory the controls and panes could moved over and/or duplicate to appear above the FX. But I'm not 100% sure. I could experiment though. Definitely see the utility of it.

Maybe someone with the orig skin installed could check this please?

The effects don't even have to change order (although that would be amazing if they could be reordered) but just being able to click them on/off at each effect is where I keep naturally going and then realising I have to go to the left panel each time. :)

Again, great job on this skin to all involved!

That is definitely not possible at the moment. No U-he plugins allow you to change the order of effects on the GUI. Some will allow you to select the type of effect in Slot 1 and the effect type in Slot 2 (like Diva) but that's not how Hive works. Hive lets you drag and drop the effect chain order in the list and in the list only. I agree that drag and drop effects re-ordering would be great.

I'll see if the FX on/off indicator can be duplicated and moved to the effect label, but even that may not be possible. Or well beyond my skills. But I'm open to giving it the old college try.

I just switched to the original skin and no it's not possible to turn on/off the FX from their labels, only from the blocks.

The difference is that the blocks are in the middle of the FX section so there is little to no mouse travel needed as opposed to Izmo/Gizmo where the blocks are off to the left.

Not a big deal but I agree being able to turn them on/off from the headers would be nice as long as the blocks on the left reflect the status and drag/reorder would be nice as well. (To make the FX order match the blocks on the left)

Drag-reorder of frames following the movements from the grid widget is currently not supported in u-he's UI framework, so they'd need to implement that first.
