problem with playing vst in FL5...

I've posted this also in the official FL forum of course, but as I'm waiting for an answer...
the thing is that in FL5, when I'm playing a vst synth with my midi keyboard, sometimes a note won't play, or other times the note keeps sounding indefinetely until I press stop.
I've checked that this doesn't happen when drawing the notes in the piano roll, and that it doesn't happen either in FL4. I've checked the midi settings and they both seem to be the same.
someone has a clue of what may happen?
thx

yeah strange. but in this case the vst doesn't seem to be the problem, but the host, cos those same vst and the same midi controller work perfect in my fl4.5...

I haven't been blessed with that error in FL5... yet. What I did notice was a slight bit of latency when playing with my MIDI keyboard.

I thought I was seeing some latency myself but it's so close I wasn't sure. I checked the ASIO Control Panel and it was still set to the correct setting with 4ms latency which I'd "felt" to be spot on. Maybe I was right then, there is some tiny latency happening with the new FL5. The latency wasn't enough to be a problem though.

umm I have no answers in the FL forum...I guess it's because of being so late...

Hi!
I had a quick scan through the support tickets at FL, that gol n team are looking at.
May I suggest that you post more info about the problem at FL rather than a generic 'vsti' one, (like it might help them if you said - but only with this vsti it is called, or, all vsti and these are the ones I had a go with, my midi control is called and my sound card driver latency is, with the sound card make of) you know help them, help you, I have left a couple of questions under a couple of tickets as an example.
Best regards,

oh I have just answered those questions.
but the most relevant is, I think, that it doesn't depend on the vst, since it works perfectly in my FL4. I open both versions 4 and 5, I open the same vsts (I've tried with Wusikstation, Polyblit and Quantum) and the problem occurs in FL5, it doesn't occur in FL4.
should I try to download FL5 again?

No, I would wait and see what the outcome of the support is, I would try changing the wrapper settings too, and see if that helps. I will post a pic. here in a moment to show what I mean - there are a lot of changes in the wrapper - plus the way the playback can run.origami wrote:oh I have just answered those questions.

You could try some of these – but first try with the fixed buffer setting, this may help.

Also in the audio settings page, make sure for now that the mixer setting is set to ‘Linear’ interpolation.

You are welcome, gol n team will fix this I am sure it wont take them long, what will probably happen is they will smooth any of the rough edges of this release and do another with the fixes in place – there are one heck of a lot more configurations of hardware and software now that its been realesed, that will show up issues with synths n drivers that are left.origami wrote:tomorrow morning I'll try that.

Hopefully the fixed buffer will get you sorted unless the team find a better one, before the service pack.

thanks a lot mate.
when I think of it, well, I still have my FL4.5 which I've been using up to yesterday for a year, so it's not that terrible actually. it's just that i was so excited about getting into the new version. I'll try what you've recommended me of course.
and I guess there'll be a solution, since that problem never occured me in my FL4, I guess all problems will be solved sooner or later.
see you and I appreciate your interest in my post. (I know, I know I'm welcome, but I wanted to thank you again

I've got FL 5 up and running and all the native generators are doing fine, but I can't see to get any sound out of several VST instruments. The problem seems to be with VST instruments that were changed to DXI with Cakewalk's VST tool. But if I throw in a new VST into the FL plugins folder, they work fine. I suspect this will be fixed soon. Oh, well.
