sounds like the average "professional post production" pricing. ie. it's not good enough unless it costs a lot. Welcome to the world of protools.

And what do you get for that (compared to SX3)?

A couple of (post prod) fileformat related options and more flexible surround. Other than that they're 1:1

Go figure.

Does Nuendo have all SX3's features? I thought it was more audio-oriented, but for $2k they probably threw in all of Cubase's midi capabilities too, eh?

SX3 and Nuendo3 are 1:1, midi, UI and everything.

see my previous post for the (just about) the only differences.

If that's the case then the extra price is unjustified - did it take extra work to make? not that much I suspect. It's just greed based on their expectation that pro's can afford more but it means ordinary people can't touch it.

Well if the only differences are file format related, then why do ordinary people NEED to touch it??

It has no real advantage to musicians, sx3 would do all you need. I'll prolly upgrade though(cos I'm a whore).

On the Nuendo forums they're choking on it too

I would love to ask them why it matters..? they should all only be paying for the upgrade

Sorry everyone, i have been hoping to speak with Musiclink during last week - but events conspired to prevent us from doing so. Also there were many activities taling place in Hamburg last week (for Steinberg 20th anniversary) so my apologies for not being able to reply sooner. It was not intentional and i most definately do NOT wish to avoid discussing this topic.
The truth is that I have a detailed answer for you - but I must discuss this first in person with Musiclink (as I can't find the Aus Nuendo 3.0 price list on their website) - so I simply must get their direct clarification on this before posting a 'global' reply.
I hope you understand my need to get the facts straight before I reply - which will be very soon I hope. (I make no promises for exactly which day now).

Please note for the time being:
US$ MSRP Nuendo 3.0 = 2499US$
Euro SRP Nuendo 3.0 = 1999 Euro

I will comment on AUS$ as soon as I have spoken with Musiclink.

The Protools host is FREE, just get a great soundcard (like Mbox) for $400 and you have a killer host app included.
