Luminist by Encoder Audio, Max for Live.

I continue:
J J Burred's FACTOR SYNTH 2 (m4l)
Factorsynth is a Max For Live device that opens new avenues in sound design. Based on a machine learning algorithm called matrix factorization, it decomposes any audio clip into a set of temporal and spectral elements. By rearranging and modifying these components you can do powerful transformations to your clips, such as removing notes or motifs, creating new ones, randomizing melodies or timbres, changing rhythmic patterns, remixing loops in real time, applying effects selectively only to certain elements of the sound, creating complex sound textures...

and one serious tip for working with field rec:
the good old wave editor doesnt make any sense to deep edit field rec.
but a spectral editor does.
like Spectralayers or others:

Tritik Moodal
https://www.tritik.com/product/moodal/
Moodal is an audio plugin that modelizes objects and spaces to be excited by the sounds you will run through it.
Make your snare deeper, or change it to a bottle. Send your voice through a phone, or slide it on a string. Give your guitar a new soundboard, or throw some notes over a plate and quickly create rich textures.
Moodal lets you transform your sound in a lively and refreshing way.
At the heart of Moodal is a one-of-a-kind resonance engine. Its underlying thousand resonant filters make Moodal capable to replicate realistic objects such as strings or plates, but also to simulate reverberant spaces such as rooms and halls that require a high modal density.

Soundmorph DUST
DUST creates a sonic soundscape never thought possible before. When you start creating with it, you will see just what it means to lose joyful hours exploring its capabilities.

I've run recordings through the FX version of NIs Prism synth, the modal bank resonator thingy can (if used subtley) bring a nice, slightly ringing, background 'drone' to pretty much anything.
For more obvious effects, I like delaying just parts of the recording, louder sounds (I guess Dub delay...). My favourites for this are Modnetics tape emulation or NIs ReplikaXT, maybe Sandman Pro for crazier effects.

FACTOR SYNTH 2 never really clicked with me, yet also more a GUI & Workflow Thing. Same with DUST which I know is worth to check out, again.
The Spectral Editor is a good tip, which Version are you running of those, the Element or Pro?
And also can highly recommend Tritik Moodal and also their newer Irid for some droney Shimmer.

While I'm a big fan of Kaleidoscope like these guys, I do feel inclined to ask what kind of field recording are you doing??
Is it recording on location for film/tv, or are you building a library of sound effects, or do you perhaps go around recording music and performances in different locations. Because the kind of tools you'd find useful depends very much on your answer here.
