I own and like the Mopho. Saurus is definitely inspired by it. Further sources for inspiration and measurements: Roland Alpha Juno, Alesis Andromeda, Prophet5, TB303, MFB Nanozwerg, Minimoog

I have no clue what that means.

You can easily build your own init patch. Then save it to the templates directory. Here you can find also other init templates for sync, noise, PWM etc.
Yeah but it's annoying to have to go through every later and menu on the synth to determine what's clean and what's been affected. This is made wway worse on synths that don't allow preset saving on their demos. I figured out that you have a clean init though, so all is well.

I don't think he meant that kind of mofo :D

To be honest I didn't focus on low end during my tests. :)
I actually got side-tracked, I was trying to create some Prophet 5 type of sounds
without any success at all.
I also tried quite a few presets which didn't really impress, perhaps I got unlucky and just picked the wrong ones?

Example of the sounds I had trouble emulating in Saurus.

Markus has already said he drew inspiration from the Prophet5, just not the cross mod I suppose?

Anyway my opinion obviously wasn't meant to take any pleasure from others who like the Saurus architecture.

Hahaha you are correct....mofo meaning mother f**ker ;) I suspect the DSI boys thought the same and just used an alternate spelling. But it sounds damn good whatever it is.

One of the things I do when experimenting with preset design (Saurus included) is to turn the LFO rate all the way up (440Hz) and target osc tuning or filter cutoff for some different type of sounds.

In LFO section:

- Set LFO1 wave to triangle
- set FREQ to 440 Hz

In the mod matrix:

- Select LFO1+- as source
- Select Osc1 Pitch as targert
- Set send to around +50

Optional keytracking for the LFO in mod matrix:

- Set key as source
- Set LFO1 speed as target
- Set send to around +25

Yep, I meant that's what I did already within Saurus as he was asking about crossmod type sounds. I do the same thing in some other synths with fast LFO rates. I edited my original post to say "Saurus included".

Seems like the mac version is out now..

Thanks for the help, I tried the lfo workaround as suggested and indeed Saurus started to get into the zone of the type of timbres I was aiming for.

I have to be honest though and say that Saurus sounded far more brittle, noisy and less musical than the Tal-J8, Repro5 and Obxa all of which sounded more musical using their cross mod feature. Personal taste I suppose?

Hey good luck with the launch! hope it all goes well.

available now, $69 for synth or $149 with all additional banks,,,which one is better value? seems like banks quite expensive.

It already has 1,022 presets but many of those other soundsets are great. I like the Arpeggiator soundset, Dark Toxic, Analog and Synth Legends.

I am wondering if the synth's random feature provides a lot of sounds that one can use. I am looking for a synth with a lot of presets, but wonder if the random function efficiently could provide many sounds- if it is not, and creates a lot of non-usable sounds are there any other Tone2 synths or other synths that have a wonderful random feature??
