I have recently updated SSL Native Channel Strip v2 and Bus Compressor v2, and I'm wondering if I should get bx 9000J from PA.
If anyone owns both, could you describe quick comparison?
I think the new SSL Native is based on 9000K?
Thanks!

I haven't used the 9000J (I have the E and G though) but the SSL Native Channel Strip v2 is clean as a whistle whereas I expect the 900J is going to have some harmonic distortion built in. That said, the SSL Native sounds great, but it's not going to make anything sound bigger or anything. So the biggest advantages to the 9000J are going to be: 1) saturation, 2) TMT (which is a bit of a gimmick, but one I'm ok with).

I just can't get into the workflow of using a particular channel strip all the time on every track, so it becomes a bit silly after a while to own 50 different SSL emulations for the subtle differences between them. But I may call one up when I want a specific SSL vibe. Don't be me: save yourself the money and stick with what you got. If you need a bit more color, add a transformer plugin after SSL Native.

I suppose I can just use SSL Native and put BlackBox HG-2 as needed as you suggested.
BX 9000j is on sale for $49.99 now, and maybe it's worth it for channel strip + saturation combo then.

I use the BX SSL's (mostly E and J, not so much the G) when I want a "console" vibe (saturation and analog-modelled stuff), and the SSL native ones when I just want clean, great sounding SSL-style tools - but really, you can use them interchangeably and create your own saturation if SSL Native is too clean.

SSL Native Bus Comp is my preferred bus comp though.

SSL have their own native saturator as well But I guess you prob know that and you already have HG2?
