With this comparator: Do you really need or want one that "does it all"?

Of course, the analogy might fall flat when the synth starts asking egbert101 if he'd make the bass wobble again - and then, when he doesn't do that, refuse to make a hard lead until he's made it wobble at least once.

I could make a whole track with a rolled up newspaper and a stick

There are tons of even free synths that can do that as the One Synth Challenge proofs correct. It also proofs that the second claim is wrong…
Lets put it that way:
Life with a single synth is possible, but pointless…
Proof is again OSC, as most participants participate more than once…

The Australian singer-songwriter Ted Egan AO (member of the Order of Australia) performs entire sets playing just an empty beer carton. He's quite good!

He only plays the gig after he has drunk the carton of beer

Beatboxers can do it even without beer…

Really? Can't say I've ever fallen into that trap
That's because you prefer simple sounds. Simple synths, simple sounds. No, stop typing you can't make every sound with a simple synth. You might be able to make all the sounds you need but not all the sounds everybody would need.

With simple synths you're stuck with simple sounds or you'll need to use multiple instances to make more complex sounds. That's not a "trap" that's simply a fact.
AnX wrote: Wed Sep 01, 2021 5:06 pm So no then, you can't send the 4 different synthesis types to different fx, you are limited to 2, and any mods will affect all from a host. So not as versatile as using 4 synths, or 4 instances even
No like I said you can't send the lead patch in my example to four different external FX because DUNE 3 is not multi-out.

Like I also said people advocate simplicity then come up with examples that only demonstrate complexity.

If you think loading up four synths, then choosing four different patches, then routing them all to one track or making multiple tracks, then routing them all to different FX is an efficient way to work then more power to you. Knock yourself out. :tu:

Me, I'll stick with a single instance with complex sounds and two FX racks. I don't need my sounds drowned in four different external FX.

Do I? Where do you get such insight? ( a little hint, you don't, it's BS, you're making it up)

Ok, so you moved away from your original point, as you didn't understand my answer,
but no problem. I prefer the convenience and versatility of dedicated forms, not the restrictions of a crippled "jack of all, master of none" synths

Does he use 7 boxes for a supersaw sound?
