This might not help you much because Reason insists on installing the sound content, graphics caches and REs on your main drive. You can obviously use junction-type symlinks to then move that somewhere else, but at least initially you need some space on your C: drive

Aren't you already a Reason user? I think they have your payment details in Shop, assuming you bought an RE or refill before.

So if I try it for a week I can dl as many sound packs as I want and keep them (assuming any are worth it)?

Yes, you can download and keep all the sound packs.

Some of them might not work when you revert back to regular Reason 11 or 12 license if you don't have all of the devices of Reason+ (like the Algoritm, Friktion, Pattern Mutator or new devices in 12).

I've no idea what Reason Studio is? You mean Suite?

Suite is just Reason 11 Standard + 16 individual REs

So whatever you do with Reason license, e.g. upgrade to 12, downgrade to 10 or go for R+; you'll keep those REs - and any other 3rd party REs you bought - in your account and will be able to use in version of Reason and/or RRP that's compatible with them.

Not yet, just the trial because, "i can" and it was there, and i have a little issue/conflict and that is it looks like it could be hard to get it to work on Linux, had no luck yesterday, had to try and if i get Reason, then that is the only Reason why i would haveto be on Windows.
Stuff like that, i am thinking and reasoning.. hmm , dont wanna get into biased-land again

Ha ha i have accumulated a fair more than 5GB of free samples in my time so I can move these off my c drive. Good to read also that someone didnt have ti put any payment details in. I have bought re's etc before so they probably have some bank info but I thought you may have to sign up, agree to payments if you dont cancel etc before they let you trial. if that is not the case I am happy.

Edit: I have just borrowed 64gb pen drive from ICT dept at my work. Should have thought of this before but at least I can now trial 12 over weekend.

Instead I bought Cromaphone 3 and some other plugs from Applied Acoustics for an upgrade price of 99 USD. Could not have invested better. They did their homework and I have now great new instruments, a joy to play. Some have microtuning included, i.e. Chromaphone 3.
There is no reason for Reasons 12. Vote with your money!

There will definitely be point updates. I expect we’ll be on a Reason 12.x cycle for at least the next 12-18 months, if history is any indication.

I'd really like to have the functionality of Algoritm, Friktion and Parsec but I'm thinking now that I'm not sure I want to invest in the Reason universe just yet. What synths from other companies compare to these?

I know maybe FM8 for Algoritm, Sculpture for Friktion (or Chromaphone?) and Razor for Parsec? Would love to know which have similar functionality.

Yeah, those would be the closest but you'd have to kill me to make me use FM8, Chromaphone doesn't really sound as lively and expressive like Friktion (and that's even without MPE!) and Razor is pretty convoluted to work with and requires Reaktor to run (the free one will do, though).

I mean their latest instruments - Complex-1 (similar to Bazille), Friktion, Algoritm - have all been stellar, with reasonable CPU footprint, awesome sound quality, really intuitive workflow, exhaustive feature set and instantly usable presets.

They could easily stand on their own as separate VSTs.

Complex-1 is the second RE I bought and I love it (first being U-He Uhbik-G). It's what made me wonder about the quality of their other synths. p.s. Uhbik-G is great too.
