Can FLS 5 help us get by without Pro-Tools or Audition??????

Let the controversy begin...

To be specific, is FLS (at v5.0) finally good enough for any of you to try to get by without Sonar, Cubase, Tracktion, Acid Pro, Live, Pro-Tools, or Audition?

For myself, I will still use FLS 5 & Live 4. But if everything goes well in the next 3 months, I might not need anymore updates for Audition. I may be better off making some room on my hard drive for more drum samples to use with FLS!!!

Right or wrong, give me some second opinions.

Seriously, i thing that FLStudio5, with elastique, automation clips, loop record, fpc..., is a complete
solution for music production. (al least for me)

Seriously, i thing that FLStudio5, with elastique, automation clips, loop record, fpc..., is a complete
solution for music production. (al least for me)

And for this alone, it got to be a better deal than Reason alone.

It'll be interesting to see how the forthcoming Orton v6.0 can top all of this.

- Frequency Spectrum analysis, including the ability to apply effects to specific frequencies only
- Vocal extraction
- Professional mastering tools

- PDC
- Graphic Phase shifter
- Scientific filters
- Doppler Shifter
- Pitch correction
- integrated CD burning
- CD ripping
- support for a wide range of audio formats including MP3Pro
- Audio correction at sample level accuracy
- 30 band EQ
- FFT filter

If the answer is no to any of these, then to work with audio at a professional level you may need to hang onto Audition, Tony.

Oh man, you can't compare FL to PT... they are two different animals:)
Both have their strengths and weaknesses but are not designed for doing the same thing.

FL never claimed to be an audio editor. An audio editor is something critical that every musician should have, and probably already has.
FL is made to work along with audio editors. FL-rendered songs or loops will exhibit their slices and playlist cue points in the most popular audio editors. And will read its slices, cue & loop points from those. Those audio editors can also be defined as tools inside FL.

Now will any of these audio editors allow you to compose? I don't think so. That's why you need both.

but PDC would be really really helpful.
But i believe it's not possible without reprogramming
it.

personally i don't think i can drop audition with fl5, maybe i could drop live (if i had it eh) but not audition.

Also, without pdc, audition gives me the chance to use delay inducing plugins, like impulse reverbs and the vintage warmer. I'll just render tracks to audio when i mixdown, open em in audition, apply the effect, trim the delay away, and then re-import the track as an audio clip.

And sorry, i just wanted to point out that i agree with gol, i don't expect fl to deliver the same things that audition does, and i use them both at different stages.

That said, i've been merrily doin'it all on fruityloops (without other sequencers) since version 3 point something, up to the mixing and mastering, so that's a vote for me

At least for me, FL has always been all I needed and some more.
I tried others and it just a matter of taste, but foe ease of use, sound quality andbang for buck. FL Studio is the only thing I need.
The only thing I will be needing (sooner than I thought! ) is a bigger mixer because my eyes get tired easily. But that´s not too big of an issue. (oh yeah and a native multiband Compressor would be nice too, but there are plenty freewares out there that are excelent)

You know an (almost free) www.goldwave.com almost does all of that. Registration cost $45 USD.

Anyway, if you work entirely in FL you won't need most of those functions...they are for fixing problems you won't have
