Comparison between Noveltech Character and Noveltech vocal enhancer

I just wondered if anyone knew if there was much difference between the character and vocal enhancer.
Seeing that the noveltech character is on special offer for today only, I was going to buy it, even though my work is more vocal only based.
Anyone tried out the two tools?

i did a demo of both of them a while ago. back then i thought that in my arsenal, i don't need any tools that i don't understand. i'm all for novel approaches, but i felt this is encroaching too far on Crysonic's magic voodoo territory (not business practices-wise though!).
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

I don't think in either case these plugins warrant too much analysis... they're definitely not really comparable to anything Crysonic does IMO - I use Character every now and again and it's great as a general tone-shaping "hey this part needs something interesting I wonder if this will work" kind of plugin...
It gives a flavour when you need something you can't put your finger on.

the last year, after the 1 day sales of each plugin, plugin alliance did a week saling everything for the discounted price... Maybe I can get character and maag eq then!

Thanks for all your help, tested out Character on the demo version and as some of you have mentioned, less is more and will be buying it today.
I will try out the demo of the vocal enhancer and see/compare what it does.
And if any of you are interested in what vocal work I do, here you go
Maybe I'll do a few tests with it and the vocal enhancer.

Has anyone else demoed both of them along side the comination of Pro-MB + a saturation plugin and found little desire for either of the Noveltech options?

I've just done a quick test and I mean really quick test with some spoken audio with character (just bought) and vocal enhancer(on trial).
The results are pleasing when used on their own or in series, it's a shame my CD is already released but I reckon I might use them on the next one.

This was a great question and I'm totally at the point of deciding between the two of them as well!! What was the ultimate verdict on this? It seems like vocal enhancer is using the same technology as Character, but with more precise control.

My approach was to sell both and uninstall. Never found reasonable use for it. Very gimmicky, in my opinion.kPere wrote: Sun Sep 05, 2021 10:25 am Interesting to hear you guys are using vocal enchancer. I bought it with high hopes, but just cannot get it to sit right in the mix. Whats your approach?

Character can come in handy sometimes with dull instruments that were recorded poorly. It can make it a little more lively... or it can wreck it and make it thin and nasty. Kind of a fine line. I have other things I use more. On a recent mix, I had it on a piano track to help it cut through a dense mix better. But, on the final mix, I had taken it off the track. So, I'm not sure it's a needed plugin. I have 100's of "not needed" plugins that I bought because the deal seemed too good to pass up.

I used character on powercore like 15 years ago (it costed a fortune back then), and it’s been a secret weapon ever since, it doesn’t work on everything but it’s a magic soundbetterizer plugin when it works. I don’t how it works, but it sounds to me like it’s enhancing select transients and expanding the focused band of audio.Burillo wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2013 8:28 am i did a demo of both of them a while ago. back then i thought that in my arsenal, i don't need any tools that i don't understand. i'm all for novel approaches, but i felt this is encroaching too far on Crysonic's magic voodoo territory (not business practices-wise though!).
