editing multiple tracks simultaneously in the same Melodyne window in reaper is unbelievably cool. for so many reasons.
but generally I agree. ara should just be implemented in all daws. its the future of plugins.

Ehhh... It depends on what DAW you use.SLiC wrote: Sat Sep 04, 2021 2:23 pm ARA is great and I think it's an easy 'option' to add it to most DAWS- 'but' you will need to shell out a lot more money (probably more than the DAW cost) to get the benefit of Melodyne polyphonic editing....The polyphonic version of Melodyne starts at €399 list...all ARA does is open Melodyne and pipe it through the DAW, you still have to buy the programme (and the free version they often bundle is just a gateway drug, its very limited!)
I use Studio One and have Melodyne Studio, ARA is not 'that' integrated in my opinion, it still feels like I am leaving S1 and going to a different (weird) GUI...Reason, for example is a lot simpler and faster to make a quick tweak and more far more 'integrated' as part of Reason, it's all I need 99% of the time.
If you use a DAW that doesn't have monophonic pitch correction, Melodyne Essential basically provides that to the DAW. So, it's not really a gateway drug, as many people want this for vocals.
Many DAWs have their own monophonic pitch correction, though: Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Digital Performer, Samplitude Pro X, Reason, etc.
It's those that don't which benefit a lot from bundling Melodyne Essentials, as they need it to perform the function that other DAWs have native tooling for.
Studio One, Cakewalk by BandLab, etc. Those DAWs need Melodyne even for monophonic pitch correction.
I also think some DAWs bundle Melodyne Essential as a way to avoid having to maintain their own native solution (Samplitude Pro X being one example), as it is functionally comparable to what they offer otherwise. Cubase, DP, Logic and Reason do not bundle Melodyne Essential, and it's largely redundant in those DAWs. Pro Tools has only recently bundled it (with subscriptions), but that's likely to try to lure more people into a subscription.
Melodyne Essential is also bundled with iZotope Nectar Plus. I literally have like 2-3 unused Melodyne Essentials licenses, which I keep around only because Celemony limits registrations so you can end up with licenses you cannot activate after you've registered it enough times.
When I went to the M1 MBP and then returned it I ended up having to use a different license because activating it on the MBP put me over the limit and I couldn't activate that license anymore. And it's a massive PITA. I basically had to create a new Celemony account as it kept downloading the unusable license file, instead of the other registered to the account.
Polyphonic Pitch Correction... I think is slightly overrated. Get better instrumentalists. If you're paying that kind of money for pitch correction software, you're likely running some type of business that is making money.
I think the killer feature is the multi-track.

This!Tj Shredder wrote: Sun Sep 05, 2021 2:00 pmThat would be the most stupid solution. Simple often doesn‘t mean smart.jamcat wrote: Sat Sep 04, 2021 6:48 pm The simple solution is to not buy any DAW that doesn't support ARA.
ARA is a well designed workflow enhancement. Its even open sourced now and any DAW developer could integrate it if they wanted to…
But even without ARA I could do all I would have been able to do with ARA in Bitwig. I just needed to play the part I wanted to treat into the plugin. Certainly not a deal breaker…

Just wondering.
Does Studio One still hold the title as having the best ARA implementation?
In my case for Windows 10.
I hope both the upcoming major updates of Mulab and FL Studio include ARA integration.
And both can run as stand-alone and as VST's.
My concern is that at first at least the ARA will not be fully implemented.

I would say so. I haven't seen it implemented as seamlessly in other DAWs. I heard it works rather well in Cakewalk. However my experience with it in Logic is that its best to avoid it in Logic. It doesn't work well, it's quite buggy and Logic throws a fit whenever I instance Melodyne on a track. Never had any issues in S1. Works perfectly.Kalamata Kid wrote: Tue Dec 28, 2021 9:26 pm Just wondering.

I use ARA/Melodyne in S1 all the time. So much so, I upgraded my version to Editor. Great for tuning damn near anything in a song.

I hope to see ARA become more capable so that is fills the void where Rewire used to be.

I got Melodyne Essential for free with Studio One.
I upgraded it to Melodyne Editor for $200.
Not exactly a huge investment there.

You just need to remove the old computer's authorization from your Celemony user account before authorizing it on a new computer.

I don't think Image-Line will add ARA anytime soon as they are trying to update and push their NewTone and NewTime plugins.
This is one of many reasons I switched over to Studio One from FL Studio.
