Sure, it could be a corroded contact/pin or the ribbon connection itself (usually also accompanied with occasional calibration failures), but usually/more likely that a simple keybed cleaning restores the AT operation.

The SQ80 keys are clacky to some but I'm a big fan of ensoniq keybeds (EPS16+ being my fave). Beats the hell out of 90% of today's controllers.

how?

is the dirt interfering with the magnetic field? (not likely unless you've somehow filled the keybed with iron filings)

or is the repair going to need something else, maybe hardened pads being replaced (as noted in the video teksonik linked)?

 I’ve owned a TS-10 too, and after not having one for a decade, I found one (actually, my original unit) and while the keyboard action felt great, the aftertouch was also unusable.

The truth is, I just don’t care that much about the specific Ensoniq sound enough. I probably won’t even buy the new plugin until it’s part of V Collection and there’s at least a few other new synths I’m interested in. If they had done a Fizmo, I’d have been first in line, but the SQ-80? Not that interesting.

this is a vintage synth. cleaning these parts is the first step (always the easy stuff first), but we have vintage PCBs and traces, chip seating/connections to check, pwr supplies components that need checking, normal corrosion alongside ribbon connections to check (clean with deoxit d5). All repairable though!

* Just pray the display doesn't go south :(

Well, there ya go.

*and yeah, the Fizmo's are very cool as well

I had an eps16+, don't recall anything great about the keyboard

Fun sampler, but didn't last long

right, so you've gone from "clearly a cleaning issue" to "that's your first step, could be anything". got it.

No, I said that usually the keybed cleaning restores sketchy poly-at operation. Clean the plates, coils, the pads too, etc (get the years of whatever off and out of it). Then try it. Even the synth wizard video shows the keybed system. How are you confused by any of this?

If you're having issue beyond this get it to a capable tech.

A completely meaningless reply. Congratulations.

Very fun sampler. Still running to this day.
Good luck on the rest.

We already got a very good PPG Wave from Waldorf themselves.
Tried the demo but didn't like the old interface and even the sound wasn't right to me. Currently 89% off ($19.99) on audio plugin deals if anyone is interested.

The dude was chewing food with his mouth open right against the mic, f**king disgusting. He thanked Arturia for sponsoring him so I guess this was sanctioned but it was all very amateur. I wonder why they chose him of all people.
