Whoa, that’s wild. Love ‘lectric Panda.

Just an FYI… Rapid Composer on sale for a time in Sept… 33% off. Finally picked it up this time around.

Looks very interesting but did not care for the demo songs.
I may however purchase it on a big sale.
I have a couple of Reason Players by Lectric Panda LLC.

edit: listened to the demo songs again and this time well they sounded a bit better. :)

Yes, interested, but the ‘intro sale’ still leaves it expensive, will also hope to see it surface cheaper down the road.

Agree with this. Had it been $20 off, instead of just $10, I probably would have jumped now. Otherwise, no risk in waiting for a hopefully bigger sale on BF.

Not sure if anyone’s mentioned this before, but it seems like it might be kind of fun to play around with and it’s free and open source
Orca is an esoteric programming language, designed to create procedural sequencers in which each letter of the alphabet is an operation, where lowercase letters operate on bang, uppercase letters operate each frame.

The application is not a synthesiser, but a flexible livecoding environment capable of sending MIDI, OSC & UDP to your audio interface, like Ableton, Renoise, VCV Rack or SuperCollider.

Thanks for posting this! I never knew it existed. Played around with it for a few hours last night. Lots of possibilities for sure. It works well with a qwerty keyboard so I'm not sure how to transfer that to a pad/phone but it would be a great app to take with you and noodle around on some downtime.

I’ve been enjoying Scaler 2 from Plugin Boutique recently. Though I am quite a music theory nerd admittedly, I’ve found using it has opened me up to using different chord movements and voicings that I wouldn’t necessarily go to if I was playing the piano.

My usage of it would probably be quite different if I didn’t know much music theory, but in my case I see it as an awesome assistant tool to help augment (no pun intended) my composition process.

Scaler 2 is really versatile. It's certainly useful for chord progressions and that whole area is very elaborate, but I find it also very handy as a general midi tool to be paired with one or more midi generators. You can lock any midi to any scale and change it on the fly, making it perfect for lots of experimentation. You can also humanize any incoming midi or add a arpeggiated performances. And with midi capture you can easily record any incoming midi and export anywhere via drag and drop. It's almost always at the end of any midi fx chain for me. I think these guys really struck gold with this one.

The key lock is really useful. I feel my lack of advanced theory, though I’ve picked up some theory over the years, is stopping me getting more out of Scaler than I could.
I think some of that stuff about substitutions just doesn’t stick with me.

It’s very sad that some people buy those stupid scale midi chord packs when they could pick up Scaler 2 and effectively get infinite chord progressions.

Also very cool in combination with Cthulhu.

Route Scaler 2 into Cthulhu -> Pick a key -> Line up 50 chords -> Hit "learn" in Cthulhu and play all the chords in succession. => Save & done, a $19.99 Cthulhu chord pack in two minutes.

Nice tip! Is Cthulhu on sale for $19.99 somewhere at the moment? Thx

No Xfer don't do sales ever, but it's not that expensive to begin with.

I was just referring to the Cthulhu chord packs I often see that are priced around that. In response to WatchTheGuitar's comment about midi packs. No need to buy, since it's easy to make your own.

Right on. Thanks for explaining :tu:

I'm a bit of a sucker for midi note tools and have a ton around me (scaler, obelisk, instachords, captain chords, midi madness, phrasebox, chord prism, cthulhu, sundog etc) but I find my favourite tools are currently harvest and forager - really like the way both allow locking of elements (grid notes in harvest, assigned chords in forager) and setting note/chord/scale pools for their randomizers to select from. Makes it feel more like a curating process.

Love using forager to find interesting chord progressions and also then sending those chords into phrasebox to break them apart in interesting ways.
