My gf says most girls only like acoustic. Is this true?

Interpreted one way, this leads me to wonder whether you're well supplied with fireproof garments...

Interpreted the other, I can only guess you don't get the same kind of spam I get because there are a lot of firmware upgrades being offered to women these days. ;-)

and yet, there's very little for men...Glitter makeup anyone?

All the females I know always found my electronic stuff more interesting... Therefor find me more fasinating. 8)

Would you class ABBA as acoustic? Because Bjorn Again consistently sells out to a predominantly female demographic here in Norwich, whilst Coldcut cancelled due to lack of interest. :x

I don't get all the anti-pop sentiment here at KVR though, especially R'n'B (although it has almost nothing to do with 60-70s R'n'B). To my mind there are some great R'n'B producers/artists, particularly the Neptunes and Timbaland. At the same time I love electronica such as Squarepusher, the Aphex Twin and Mouse on Mars. And there are artists like Mirwais doing great pop-electronica crossover stuff. Maybe girls don't appear to dig some of the more 'challenging' IDM as much because they're less concerned with musical pretension.

If Justin Timberlake was boss-eyed and spotty I bet he'd be an electronica hero :hihi:
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

what's so pretensious about IDM?

If anything, liking pop music becaue all your friends does it...now that's music pretension if you ask me!

Also, I know of a lot of electronica chicks...the RnB shite is only there to make money...as is macdonkey...it goes hand in hand and is evil...It drains the mind of critical thinking and makes us all zombies...if you can't listen to improvised Jazz or IDM then you're doomed...your brain has been reduced to a puddle of lazy-ass braincells that wants nothing more than to listen to pap while unpackig boxes at the local food-mart...

Indeed, it's much better to like music because it's good, as I hope I do. Liking IDM because all your friends like it is equally bad.

Yeah, I know some girls who are electronica/dance/indie fans. You're right though, R'n'B is all part of a plan involving the Illuminati and the Bilderberg Group. Nothing to do with some of it being great fun to dance and listen to. :P

I just said I can... Why should enjoying commercial pop preclude the appreciation of more obscure music?
