The French company Expressive E, developers of the Osmose, has just published Imagine, a new physical modeling Synthesizer in collaboration with Applied Acoustics Systems. Imagine has many features of Chromaphone/String Studio VS-3 but also has some cool unique ideas (deeper envelopes, complex noise generator, sequencer works as exciter...)
So the two Verge brothers (Marc Pierre - AAS, and Louis - Expressive E) have again a product together
Intro price is 83,40€ (reg. 139€)

They keep making synths that I assume MUST be MPE, but are confusingly not. Still, looks and sounds awesome. Hopefully MPE is on the road map.

Seems pretty limited. Would it have killed them to include V/A modelling, like Korg Prophecy?

what?
wrong thread bones.
it's like barging in a Phuturetone GR8 thread and asking "hey where's karplus strong emulation, so limited"
ot:
No native M1 support for a -new- release without iLok anchor... not good.
Also, no demo? Am I seeing this right?
edit: is this anything else but chromaphone and VSS rolled into one?

Would have been better if they had just added the extra modulation and expression features etc to Chromaphone, like Chromaphone users have been begging for since it first came out. Seems just like a way to get us to pay again for a 'new' product that actually isn't.

Go away, look up what Prophecy is and does, then come back and apologise for your ignorance. I'll wait here.

I often layer physical modeling with sample presets to add expression when doing our woodwinds and strings. However, this AAS cling clang does not really do much for me. I have demoed Chromaphone twice and found that it was really not good for anything than 100 variations of marimbas and bells. The rest were a joke compared to samplepacks. From the demo, it sounds like the strings may be a little better this time, but no woodwinds in contrast to e.g. Modelonia from NU Softing. I will check this out to see if it can raise the bar.

Yeh, I bought Noisy as I have a Touché and there are Touché versions of the pre-sets which realy bring it to life- I was also 'assuming' it must go full MPE quickly as they make the Osmose and MPE is their thing. Almost a year later no MPE and no updates other than a tiny bugfix.
I note this one also has Touché versions of the patches so may have to take a look, at 69E it isn't a lot more than a couple of pre-set packs...

OK, got it. Downloaded (like that its called RC1 !) and installed- had a quick play - looks and sounds nice- only 8 voice poly ands limited fx (just a plate reverb OI think) - very much like Noisy. If you have the AAS stuff you probably don't need this (although it looks better IMO), it's worth it to me as I have a Touché and all the pre-sets are set up in Lie and using it with the Touché is where it really seem so come to life (given it's not MPE)

I cannot find a demo version download on their site. Is there any?

Nope, no demos (for anything Expresive E, they have never done demos)TribeOfHǫfuð wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 9:24 am I cannot find a demo version download on their site. Is there any?

funny:
the album was released quite exactly 50 years ago (sept 9th 1971)

To be fair, the woodwind modeling in modelonia is completely abysmal. Sculpture is about the same age and sounds better wind-wise.TribeOfHǫfuð wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 8:18 am I often layer physical modeling with sample presets to add expression when doing our woodwinds and strings. They could’ve just named it “Running With the Devil” for a worse song.muki wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 1:30 pm "imagine" ?
