I'm using Izotope Vocal Synth 2 in midi mode in fl studio. I'm sending midi out to the software and can hear the vocoder effect and midi melody applied. My original spoken vocal is routed to the mixer track where vocal synth is located. However i'm still hearing the dry vocal sound underneath, even with the mix control set to 100%? What am i doing wrong?

routed how? via a send?
set your auxilliary sends to pre fader.
then drop the fader in the original channel, it wont effect the send.
i dont use fl, but this is what i think you are looking for
