We are doing a demo-song contest for Saurus3. You can win these prizes:
1st prize: Tone2 Complete Bundle (worth $999; includes all synths, effects and expansions)
2nd prize: A Tone2 synth of your choice (worth up to $189)
3rd prize: An effect of your choice (worth up to $79)
4th prize: A sound-set of your choice (worth up to $59)
How can you take part?
Anyone can take part. You can either buy the full-version here:
https://www.tone2.com/saurus.html
...or download the free demo here:
https://www.tone2.com/download.html
1) Create one or more impressive jingles that use several instances of Saurus3. The song style can be any style you want. Make it interesting with some modulation though. External drums or EQs are allowed. Be careful with compressors, limiters or clipping.
2) Save your track(s) as a 96 kHz WAV file (if possible). Each jingle should be between 30 seconds and 60 seconds length and be submitted as a separate file.
3) Send it to info[a t]tone2[dot]com before October the 3rd
4) We pick the best jingles and present them as demo-tracks on our website
5) The winners will receive their price by email
Examples:
https://www.tone2.com/overview_sa.html
Further terms:
By submitting a demotrack you grant us the permission to use it for advertizing. The licenses of the prizes are NFR (not for resale).
We are looking forward to your submissions!

I just bought Saurus 3 and Warlock.
A pure happiness.
You can really go there for the purchase, a magnificent sound imprint.
I hesitated a while, because already not an armada of Vst.
Here, I am absolutely won over.
Thanks to Markus and his team for these excellent products.
The next one will most certainly be, Nemesis 2.

I really do think the F and A noise are labeled backwards on the synth UI and in the manual, unless i'm not understanding something simple. When I look in a spectrum analyzer and turn it to Frequency noise, you can see amplitudes of peaks going up and down but the peaks don't shift left and right in frequency. When I turn it to Amplitude noise the peaks in the sounds shift left and right but don't change amplitude and you can audibly hear pitch warbling.

I don't know whether or not it sounds authentically analog, but it can sound very good indeed. The poly unison in particular, classic warm pads
What I don't like is the same as with earlier versions.
- demo timeout and no patch saving (makes me wonder how one is supposed to make a jingle for that contest)
- the demo notice at launch seems to be outdated (only 200 patches)
- inconsistent abbreviation on the GUI, sometimes with period, sometimes without; some mod sources are abbreviated despite there being more than enough space, judging from other, longer source items; with me such sloppiness leaves a rather negative impression
- mouse scrolling very coarse, odd steps sometimes
- the osc mix knob readout makes little sense to me; when both are equally loud, it says 0; I think it should say 50:50; with the F/A noise knob it says 0 when both are inactive, so turning it either way means only either noise type is active, no balance
- no white noise signal
- I don't like knobs for envelopes, the knobs all look the same, which makes it difficult to remember controls
- it would be useful if hitting the escape key closed the browser
- I think there is a bug in the pw control: when I init, select pulse and then slowly sweep the width, there is always a bump at a certain point, depending on the note; when you do it slowly enough you can hear that it sound like aliasing or something like that strange, now I can't repeat it, will try again later...

I'll rename the matrix sources in the next version for a more consistent look.
Osc mix display will also be changed.
An additional White noise generator is available via matrix. You can find an example patch in Templaes->White Noise

Am I wrong about the f/a noise in the oscillator section? Can someone more technical explain why if I'm incorrect?

Ah ok, a bit clumsy, but it is there, indeed.Markus Krause wrote: Mon Sep 13, 2021 9:24 am An additional White noise generator is available via matrix. You can find an example patch in Templaes->White Noise
Why does the demo mode screen pop up again every time one switches back to the Saurus GUI after viewing another GUI? I think it would be enough to show it a single time when launching an instance of the demo version.

Well, I like to compare synths I know to demo versions. So I try to match sounds and it is a bit annoying when the demo splash screen pops up every time I switch back to SaurusNorqa wrote: Mon Sep 13, 2021 12:39 pmDo you ever stop moaning?e-crooner wrote: Mon Sep 13, 2021 12:17 pm

That is the price you pay in demo land. Most developers cripple their offerings (Am I allowed to say Cripple anymore - probably not)e-crooner wrote: Mon Sep 13, 2021 12:53 pm

I never made the rules, left to me every demo would be free of white noise or any methods of E-beggary.

Just buy the synth. Easy fix! It's not very expensive!e-crooner wrote: Mon Sep 13, 2021 12:53 pmWell, I like to compare synths I know to demo versions. Sorry to ask if this has been asked before but is there any plans to make it Mac Native M1 compatible?

Yep. If you can't make it in a single session, you're toast.e-crooner wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 10:56 am- demo timeout and no patch saving (makes me wonder how one is supposed to make a jingle for that contest)
First up, abbreviations have been correctly punctuated, except maybe "FREQ", which is such a common abbreviation it isn't really necessary, although technically incorrect. But I'm willing to bet you don't know the rules around abbreviations and periods anyway. Yes, it is possibly ever-so-slightly strange that feedback is abbreviated two different ways - I'd use "F/BACK" - but it's hardly the end of the f**king world from someone who doesn't speak English has a first language. I think the labelling of the controls is actually a highlight - so clear and easy to read, probably better than any other VSTi I own.- inconsistent abbreviation on the GUI, sometimes with period, sometimes without; some mod sources are abbreviated despite there being more than enough space, judging from other, longer source items; with me such sloppiness leaves a rather negative impression
Whilst it's not the norm, I was thinking just last night how handy it is. You probably didn't notice but if you hold down CTRL you get finer control with the scroll wheel.- mouse scrolling very coarse, odd steps sometimes
I'll give you that one but, again, who f**king cares?- the osc mix knob readout makes little sense to me; when both are equally loud, it says 0; I think it should say 50:50; with the F/A noise knob it says 0 when both are inactive, so turning it either way means only either noise type is active, no balance
I don't like you but I put up with you. You should show the knobs similar courtesy. I prefer knobs as they are more compact and I don't set envelope values with my eyes, I do it with my ears.I don't like knobs for envelopes, the knobs all look the same, which makes it difficult to remember controls
The browser is a bit annoying, especially as the EXIT button is at the opposite end to the open button. I'd like double-clicking on a patch to close it, too, but Saurus isn't the only browser that annoys me this way. I'd prefer it if both buttons were top-left.it would be useful if hitting the escape key closed the browser
Can't you pin the GUI open?e-crooner wrote: Mon Sep 13, 2021 12:53 pmWell, I like to compare synths I know to demo versions. So I try to match sounds and it is a bit annoying when the demo splash screen pops up every time I switch back to Saurus
