C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Local\Temp\8yoU9sMw.zip.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.
Weird! I managed to click on OK before the error message showed up. My browser showed a failed download but when I clicked on the refresh button, it downloaded without incident. :?

chrome on the mac won’t download the zips without a bit of encouragement - there’s a security issue that I haven’t checked into it but it might be a certificate mismatch or a non-https link. your browser might be pretending to download it but then quarantining it or deleting it.

This sounds particularly good on wavetable and fm synth bass!! :tu:

Airwindows.com has never been an https site, ever. There is no provision anywhere to take credit cards or anything of the sort, that is only ever for Patreon or possibly PayPal… and before then, Kagi. Airwindows is just a plain old regular site.

I do pay for a Mediafire account specifically as a backup for if there are any issues. But it's a bit new to me that anybody would need a certificate to look at a webpage, or intentionally download a zip or dmg file, off a regular old website. That is kind of basic functionality…

google has a thing about websites being https, even ones that don't do commerce. the upshot seems to be chrome treats http downloads as suspect so it needs a bit of encouragement to download files.

Output trim for gain compensation would make perfect sense. Someone said it's just a static waveshaper. True or not?

What do you mean 'just'? I've spent a lot of time trying to refine static waveshaping to deliver better tone and less grunge from overprocessing. Also, I'm not really clear what's supposed to be happening in real tubes that is NOT waveshaping. That's fundamentally what they're bringing to the table, relative to transistors: that graceful transfer function and NO discontinuities. Especially single ended designs, which don't have crossover distortions between lobes of the signal.

It's all open source. If you know where to find my GitHub, there are no secrets. That said, you have to be able to follow the reasoning and purpose behind why things are done the way they are done, and that's not always going to click with everybody.

There will be further developments with all the bells and whistles, I promise :) one thing at a time. Tube is causing me to revamp a bunch of stuff as it's now beating my ClipOnly and ADClip for a safety clipper (for my purposes). I have to revisit Monitoring, to tweak it and make it work more seamlessly with Tube feeding it.

works well (now) here: mojave, chrome (quite latest)

did not work some weeks ago (other airwindows links)
but with either option-click or ctrl-click and save-as used to be working..

Tubes are not static waveshapers, they change their transfer curve based on a number of factors, there's a hysteresis involved. :)

I'll use it for processing and mention My experience. Thankyou :)
I don't make audio products anymore. I sell furniture & smart products.

Sounds like far more sophisticated things could be on the table. Though you know… sometimes the best sounding things are implemented quite simply. So I'd be very curious to hear more about this (I didn't pick up on it out of the RCA Receiving Tube Manual, but my math might not have been up to the task of following such a text). I love applying hysteresis to waveshapers: PurestDrive did that, as did PDConsole, and of course Hard Vacuum :)

And I'm pretty sure that can sound more tubelike, but I'm not as sure that means it sounds better :D

Chris, some discussion between fairly smart folks on just this topic, getting closer and closer to 20 years ago now:

viewtopic.php?t=107856

I am keen to see where you take all this in terms of your plugins man, thank you for all you do :tu:

Post

I'm keen to see it, too :) it looks to me like the real key here is electron transit time and the way this modulates the dropping input impedance of the tube… if that has to do with the electron cloud and it's moving in a wave, then the talk of hysteresis takes on new significance in that it will actively modulate whatever dulling effect the dropping input impedance has…

That said… I don't anticipate 'TUUUUUBE' as a plugin, NOT being useful. Folks in the tube space have labored mightily to get rid of just such nonlinearities. There's a place for subsets of a larger behavior, and I'm quickly finding that this 'optimized adjustable waveshape' is finding uses. I won't necessarily want to 'update' it to a more sophisticated behavior, that might more closely resemble 'tubeness' but trade off other desirable behavior :D

I was using Firefox, so that's two browsers having trouble.

Can confirm, had the same issue while using Firefox.
