you may want to look again. it will work both as http and https on the www.airwindows.com url. wordpress now favours https, and may on comparatively new installations put in support for that by default as long as you have a tls certificate. and pretty much every site has one of those courtesy of let's encrypt (including airwindows.com by the looks of it).

chrome defaults to the https form, which then blocks the downloads if you just click on the zip file's hyperlink. a save-as will download the file but give you a quarantine warning.

similarly, firefox now blocks http downloads from a https main site.

ironically, if you force chrome to load the http site, it will cheerfully download the zip files without complaint - presumably because it shows the "not secure" warning in the address bar. funny old game, isn't it?

if you change the file url to https, they seem to download just fine. so you might want to consider just altering the link addresses with a search and replace in the database or modifying the prefix wordpress uses for content downloads to https. the payoff is google is nicer to you in terms of SEO.

I looked at purest drive and ignoring the copy paste dither code I see thee code lines doing DSP (duplicated for L and R):

-"sin" waveshaping.
-A moving average lowpass of N=2.
-Audio rate dry/wet mixing of the sin waveshaper and the dry output based on the output of the moving average filter.

With all the due respect, not that I'm an expert, far from it, but I was expecting to see some kind of real-time ordinary differential equation (ODE) solver for hysteresis.

You guys are good… tell you what. I have been dragging my feet hugely on recent developments in WordPress. They've had a 'one click convert to https!' thing going for a while. I thought it was too risky, plus I don't like getting pressured by Google in that way.

It's Tuesday, and my next plugin is Sunday again. Let me try it: worst comes to worst, I'm offline and have four days to fix it. Best case, our zip problems are over and my Wordpress install is able to convert everything over seamlessly. I'm going to back everything up first. :D

This is a good time to try this as everybody (well, a pack of folks on gearspace) is so mad at me about TUUUUUBE that it'll be a distraction. And they can point and laugh if it all goes terribly wrong :lol:

I had the exact same impression , just a sineshaper with a clipped input to prevent if from wavefolding .
Opened up reaktor , input signal*x into clipper into sine function .
Almost indistinguishable from airwin. tube
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

OK, I fixed it and it seems to have gone smoothly. No more Chrome zip file problems? :D

Well, Chris, I quite like this plugin to make certain material louder in a pleasing way as opposed to just simply louder. I can understand the requests for an output slider, and I personally love to A/B and figure out how much a plugin I like is really doing. This plugin though has a pretty simple purpose and function and indeed makes things louder safely and pleasantly with a little bit of distortion as you crank it up. Not like a master limiter, more like an, uh, "nice" added-volume slider on a track by track basis. Good with synths, hey! I thought it sounded good used as a boost into a guitar amp sim too.

There are contexts where I care so much about true analog modeling but I have to admit that when it comes to Airwindows I am not very worried about whether there are components being simulated. I honestly don't know if this is fully a "tube" sound yet according to my preconceptions, though it is in my opinion a good sounding tool. I think if you develop it further it could go there though, if you want to do that, but I could also see it being useful in current form in the applications you've discussed so far with more controls. It seems very CPU efficient.

I appreciate that your love of certain behaviors in the analog realm informs your pursuit and that you try to recreate these behaviors digitally. I am grateful that your interests and your way of thinking about all this have produced some very nice tools that work quickly and unconventionally to do things that make sense.

I guess I'll conclude by just reiterating I look forward to where you go with this, and thanks for letting us see so clearly inside your thinking by sharing even the code with us. What a great level of transparency - rarely do we get that.

So… I didn't stop working, and some folks from Surge Synthesizer and other places got me digging up the RCA Receiving Tube manual, and trying to get something that worked like the inertia of floods of electrons generating even harmonic distortion, especially as higher harmonics.

If I happened to have a Tube2 that was so much more intense than Tube1 that I HAD to put an input pad on it just to get it to be manageable, and increase the 'linearity range' to twice as far as Tube1 just to keep the thing in check, thus letting you dial in any amount of absurdity from strict unity gain all the way up to the former madness…

…would you want it right away? (ok, Sunday?)

Definitely would appreciate that Chris, take the time you need to make it as cool as you want it to be prior to release but I think I would enjoy using that tool when it's ready.
