Well, it's what they're showing us so far. :-)
I make of it that it's probably a "macro" facility, for grouping rack devices into a semi-self contained bunch. This has been one of the most popular feature requests.

i'm a reason 1 owner.. haven't upgraded to 2 or 2.5.. for financial reasons
let's see if 3 will force me to cough up some money.
i don't think combinator is the only new device...am sure you're in for a bunch of new stuff... and well for me the upgrade from 1 to 3 would mean lots of new stuff to play with.

Ah, if you've never played with Malstrom or Scream or NN-XT, there could be some very pleasant surprises ahead for you. Or very ugly surprises, depending how you like it and how you set the knobs. ;-)
And that's just 2.5. Can't wait to see what they've got planned for 3.0 -- but then I won't be able to post about it here any longer; ah well! The sacrifices we make...

i did play with some of them... i forgot to mention i was entitled to reason 2.5 adapted because i bought recycle 2. 
must admit i didn't play with them for long... so i didn't really discover their full potential... and the fact that i tested them in reason adapted... didn't really use them to the fullest as i rarely use adapted.

Ah, gotcha! I hope you'll be tempted into upgrading. ;-) Of all the soft synths I've blown scarce simoleons on -- every one of which I like or love, and every one a genuine winner -- none have impressed me quite as much as Reason, my very first.
