i have a pulsar II. i took 1 month ago but i'm still using my sounblaster live.

sonar 4+ sblive: it works correctly just in "MME driver" mode (i have windows Xp ).
in "wdm driver" mode :midi /audio are out of sync.
asio mode:sound is tiny.

sonar4+ pulsarII: blue screen of death if my sblive is present on the system (but with my old cakewalk 9 is working).

sonar4 + pulsar II only: cpu of the pc sucked a LOT (95 percent)and THE ENTIRE SYSTEM become UNUSABLE til i stop SONAR: audio droputs,Everything super slow unusable.
...and i took pulsar for the dsps , to keep the cpu light.. with cake 9 pro no probs (full version).

anyone uses pulsar with sonar 4?

(..i wanna use in chain with sblive-as a sf2 hard sampler at 0 latency)

Little consideration:

Think they are getting heavier and heavier with sonar 4, they lack True-VST support
( come on, WRAPPER sucks )
and still insisting in not going with REAL VST.

Plus ,they took away the manual-drawning-shaping system (the "pencil " tool) which i found so useful in the past , to correct manually the clips where i need
(i.e correct volumes or single glitches manually, without to process the entire clips by plugs, zooming and correcting, now "audio clip"is not manualy editable, quite stupid thing)

Sadly i 've always worked with cakewlk ,and i wanna start with vsti/dxi ,so only sonar could import properly my old "cakewalk pro" projects .

Hope they will make revolution , using real vst,and permitting manual audio editing again ,like the optimum cakewalk pro in the past
(damn th. "pro" has not vsti/dxi support...SIGH)

something in your pc is just not set up right because this combo should work fine. many users at planet z have no problems.

have a look at this thread:

maybe you start a topic over there & your problems will quickly be solved :)

Sonar 3 and Pulsar II work fine here. CPU Load exactly where I expect it to be.

You say SBLive? Do they even make vendor ASIO drivers for it? If so, you may want to check and see if newer drivers are available (WDM also)... Creative's not got a great track record with drivers. Or are you using the KX drivers?

I used Home Studio 2002 with an SBLive in WDM and it worked fine. I switched to Sonar and I'm still happy with it, although I still do most of my VSTI stuff in FLS.
Edit: I also replaced the SBLive with an SB Audigy2 when I replaced the machine - hence my experience with Creative's lousy BSOD-ish ASIO drivers.

Cakewalk gave a reason why they still use the wrapper, and if I remember right they said that now, even the DXI plugs are internally wrapped.

I can't help you with the Pulsar, but as others have said, there's (probably) something wrong with your system if you're having these problems.

Or are you using the KX drivers
Exactly: you can route how you want the different signals.
fantastic with cakewlk pro ..
sblive :
spdif in -guitar.
-spdif out into creamware Pulsar spdif in.
then i have other 2 stereo output from sblive:

1 stereo output in creamware again ,so i can :
route some things (i.e soundfont synth sounds) to spdif out-into creamware ,and route other things into creamware to monitor ,or to recording, everything teoretically at 0 latency.

and then another output to mixer or whatever i need..
and plus the creamware output..
the chain give you a lot of more flexibility
(WITH KX DRIVERS OBVIOUSLY,th. let you route what you want where you need)

with cake 9 it works more or less,in sonar 4 no way as for now
