I bought it because I can't get enough 'real space' reverbs, and I like Klevgrand stuff. Seems like a nice, cheap, friendly tweakable convolution reverb. Sounds good so far in that it sounds like instruments are in a room, and that rooms is tweakable in fun ways.
Each room seems to have 3 version of mic set-up, which changes the sound significantly enough to be worth while.
So far, so good. At that price especially.

Yes, obviously it's convolution based, but with an underlying concept. Different mic positions of the same rooms sampled and probably recorded with extra care, not just randomly, as far as I can tell from the introduction video. So the interface is streamlined to dial in room sound quickly, without having to search through an IR collection somewhere on your hard drive.
I'm a total room impulses responses fan, since I think they add a reverb texture you cannot really get from algo reverb. In Ableton there is Hybrid Reverb, where you can mix convolution and algo in series or parallel. I typically use 75% convolution mixed with 25% algo for some modulation of the tail (convolution without modulation can sound a bit static after a while, even though the reverbation sound itself is fantastic).
Rum looks like a neat little tool, like many of the Klevgrand products. I find them slightly overpriced for what they do (they are not really workhorse tools, but specialised for specific tasks usually), but that's maybe due to the Swedish origin of the company, where the price level generally is a bit higher (higher cost of living, but also higher incomes) compared to continental Europe or the US.

I am interested in this too. I have a few Klevgand products. They have an interesting niche twist. I used Ting on an upcoming release and it sounds great. Simple tools with a very limited usage. I kind of like that. Sure beats having too many options when working fast.

Hmmm. I ended up buying Rum before the sale ran out. I am a fan of a lot of Klevgrand products. I like that they are simple and do one thing well. Unfortunately, for me, Rum isn't going to get much use. It's fairly metallic. I can't see a place where I would use this at all. I should have been smarter and downloaded the demo first. A bottle of Rum would get more use here.
At least in music production, I don't see a need for this. It just sounds like a semi-metallic reverb with various comb filters applied to it. Not a natural sound to my ears. Oh well.
