Anyone have a mac OS version to change the midi capabilties of the EZAG/EG?
OR maybe someone can send me a file with the updates i need?
(i dont have windows)
I want to have midi NOT be triggered when pressing the buttons and ONLY send midi when the strings are plucked (with buttons pressed of course).
And have it start at volume 0 so i dont hear sound from it and i dont have to lower the volume evry time. And if possible a hack to change octaves with the value buttons.
thats basically it. the strum mode plays wierd notes. and the other modes the buttons spits out midi info once a button is pressed without strings being played. And of course when i play buttons and strings i get double midi.
I checked the manual out and tried different things but this the default for the EZAG.
The right hand sensitivity on the EZAG is out of this world. Its hands down the best midi guitar for sequencing ever. but without a way to not have the notes be trigger by just pressing the buttons is kinda of useless.. or a lot of hassle to sequence.
thanks!

What you want is a velocity midi effect, that only allows about 20 to 127. The fretted but not plucked notes are below 20.
I'm not a mac user, but you might try insert piz here's mac midi fx for one example https://code.google.com/archive/p/pizmidi/downloads

ah cool. im using logic which comes with an onboard velocity processor.
I tried it out and it works somewhat or maybe better ... just different but the frets when doing a hammer on does still output midi. otherwise its a little faint or nothing there.
Still, I didn't know the fretted was 20 and below.
Thanks!

I apologize for jumping in here with an overly simple question, but I have a EZ-EG and can't get it to trigger more than one 'string'. I understand that each string is sent on a different channel, but what kind of device will allow it to send all six signals at the same time? The instructions that came with the EZ are useless.
I am trying to trigger a Juno DS keyboard without having to drag out my old midi guitar, and converter.
(Plus the tracking issues).
Also, where can I get myself a GOOD rounded understanding of all this stuff? Everything seems either extremely fundamental or hopelessly abstract -like writing patches, etc.
I need some middle ground!
thnx

You can use either a plugin that routes all midi channels down to 1, and send that by usb out to a midi output and into your synth,
there's hardware options like the old MEP4 which is made by Yamaha.
The cheapest way is software and a usb to midi adapter if not a total audio interface
Not sure what else you were asking about, Yamaha has a Songfiler you can download which allows you to upload midi songs to your guitar, the frets light up if you purchase a special midi song from yamaha.

Hello fellow EZ-EG enthusiasts!
Has any one ever tried to replace a dead speaker on theirs?
The jack and midi outputs are great and what I mostly need but I figure, if it's been done and is not too hard to do, why not fix it anyway?
Thanks people!

If you can find a speaker that fits, it should be an easy solder of the wires. Measure it first I guess
I had to solder the midi jack, it was really weak and after that I always hook up a midi extension cable and leave it in there.

Hi Gang
Does anyone know if you can adjust the string tension on these guitars?
Thanks

On the Ez-AG, you can't adjust the string tension
one problem I've had is loose strings triggering other open strings and I solved that problem by duct taping right under where the frets meet the body. You have to open up the guitar to get to it.

To be honest I'm actually super scared to open it and being unable to put it back (even though I'm good with Lego's. )
As you have yourself open it before, do you know if the speaker is easy to reach?

I found it was easy to take apart, the speaker is probably just screwed on. Take your time with it.

Brothers, i've gotten this guitar from a garage sale very recently and also found the popular MIDI cable with it. I want to know how can I transfer midi files to the guitar and add more instruments as well. Help would be much appreciated

To put Midi songs on it you need the free Yamaha Songfiler. To also make the frets light up you need to pay for the midi songs from Yamaha.
You can't get any more sounds into it, but if you send midi program change messages into it you can reach a full gm soundset, I think 128 sounds. Or you can plug the guitar into midi hardware/software of course.
