MPc beats with FL Studio problem

Can't multilink to controller MPC parameters, FL tells me I haven't tweaked any controls when I try the knobs (pads work fine). Again knobs don't work when I try clicking MIDI Learn (I have Q-links enabled, only light up when I link parameters to pads)

I'm getting the same behavior not just in FL Studio but Reaper and Orion as well.
To be honest I haven't spent much time with MPC Beats but it doesn't seem like an FL Studio issue.
The MPC manual has a good section on Q-Links but I can't get any knobs to link with knobs on my controller but it very well could be user error.
