Highlife is looking interesting - gonna try it in an hour or so.

Hmm i do it because Chainer does not work for me
Or maybe integrate it with sf2 player and add switch between vsti or sf2 and make it vsti instrument?
Anyway i add option for check every n note on keyboard, and i think about xfade looping.

I loaded triangle II into Chainer and created sf2 file from first preset, and then load it to vienna sf studio. It doesn't load -> maybe i do something wrong...

Maybe the sf2 was too big ?CCT wrote:I loaded triangle II into Chainer and created sf2 file from first preset, and then load it to vienna sf studio. It doesn't load -> maybe i do something wrong...
There is a limit I think...
Anyway Vienna is quite bad.
Try Awave Studio instead !
http://www.fmjsoft.com/awframe.html
The demo lets you save ONE file then you need
to restart Awave. (30 day trail)
For playback sf2's, you can not beat the free sfz !

I tried the same with the first Triangle patch, then loaded it into sfz, pretty good result.
Make sure to set "Hold" to a pretty long amount.
Can't check in Vienna as I don't have any SB card installed on any of my machines.

I should add that I usually don't export to SF2 anyways, as I prefer having looppoints in most my samples - which I usually set up in WaveLab.
I then use the EXS's automapping feature to build a patch.
OK, here's what a "perfect" VSTi-to-sampler-patch program would look like for me:
- Ability to layer plugins, including FX. Chainer does that allready.
- Ability to play the resulting patches in realtime. Chainer does that allready.
- Ability to export velocity layers on a user defined level. Chainer doesn't do so, don't know if Highlife does.
- Ability to set looppoints and x-fades, along with an option to preview those (temporary saving of samples would be fine for me in most cases, a preview functionality inside the app. would be even better).
I wouldn't need the ability to run the program as a VST itself (such as Chainer or Highlife).
In a real perfect world, the program in question would also include MIDI out and audio in, to sample external synths. For OSX such a program exists, it's made by Redmatica ( www.redmatica.com I think), called Autosampler. A marvelleous program and working fine indeed!
Yeah, I know, that's a lot to ask for, but you can dream, can you?

Quite right, Sascha, keep the dream alive. I agree with all your points here and think that a windows equivilent of Autosampler that incorporated the VST aspects of Chainer would be a true killer app.Sascha Franck wrote:I should add that I usually don't export to SF2 anyways, as I prefer having looppoints in most my samples - which I usually set up in WaveLab.

After VSTi dumper i wanted to write something like redmatica... i hope my motivation survive and finish that project. In future maybe i integrate that tools with my audioLabz music creation studio that is under developing too ;]
About year ago i created sampler that was able to play sf2 files, but i dropped the project because i had no time :/

Do keep at it. It sounds like between this project and your previous one that you didn't finish you are gaining knowledge and experience that will make a truly unique and powerful program possible someday. I hope that you are taking note of all the many suggestions made in this thread and the redmatica program as far as features is a good source of inspiration. Something that integrates audio recording and import, multisampling, looping and layering with a soundfont player/synth would be the bomb. You know, like a real, hardware sampler...CCT wrote:After VSTi dumper i wanted to write something like redmatica... i hope my motivation survive and finish that project. Next thing will be envelope editor and i dont know - create sf2 envelope editor or static added to sample or
both ?

I would only add it to the SF2.Next thing will be envelope editor and i dont know - create sf2 envelope editor or static added to sample or both ?
Personally I prefer to have all my samples start with a clear attack and adjust things later on (I don't use SF2 either, I convert them in EXS or Kontakt, so adding envelopes is a breeze).
Could there be an option to export wavefiles, with proper namings?
Such as "XYZ_V90_C1.wav" - with "V90" representing the "end velociy".
