Alright, I'm just gonna swallow my pride and ask this dumb question. I'm extremely new to Waveform and just started messing around to see if this is something I want to invest time, resources, and money in to. My first few hours haven't been too fruitful, but hopefully someone can help me here.

Anyway, how do I get the built-in midi typing piano to play the sounds from whatever plugin I'm using? When I click the piano on the plugin, it plays like I expect, but when I use my computer keyboard or the midi typing piano, it always plays regular piano notes, not the sounds from the plugin I'm using. I've spent an embarrassingly long time trying to figure this out on my own.

It may be this : because Waveform can handle multiple tracks, you have to tell him on which track(s) you want the midi notes to go.
This is called "arming" a track : making it ready to record (even if you're just playing notes from midi). This will "activate" the track inputs.
From the manual : press the "R" symbol (as record) to arm a track.
I presume you have a default piano track, which is armed, and that your plugin track isn't.
My bet.
But i don't own waveform, so i hope there is not other hidden unconventionnal "magic" under this !

What's currently called Waveform was formerly called Tracktion.
There is a separate sub-forum for users of that software here:

It was a long time ago I tried Waveform, so can't remember very well, but I think you had to arm the track by pressing the red record button of the desired instrument and also choosing an input in the field that is left of the red record button.
