Multiple monitor blues.

Hi, I’m using an older but decent video card. Nvidia GeForce GT 710. Mostly it’s fine, but some plugins, like those from Melda or Audio Damage are giving me problems. I have three monitors hooked to the 710. If I move a plugin’s window from the monitor on which it first spawned, it operates fine, but if I close it on the new monitor and then try to reopen it, I just get a white window that I can’t close. Ultimately, clicking the close window icon crashes the plugin. Any idea?

If it cannot be reproduced anywhere else, it's likely your system to blame.

Try the latest driver
https://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Use DDU to uninstall the current driver and allow DDU to reboot in safe mode.

Before doing anything, create a System Restore Point.

If the new driver does not fix, time for a new card...
Melda uses OpenGL and a new/faster and more capable card is welcome.

Hm. Maybe Santa will buy me one of those if the US outlaws cryptocurrency and the price comes to normal levels. Maybe a few new monitors as well.Pictus wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 2:35 am Try the latest driver

$448.89 is a bit much for me at the moment.

It's OpenGL, it should work with intel's on-board graphics drivers so there will be plenty of grunt in a GTX card to run 3 screens at reasonable resolution. The problem is that nVidia doesn't really optimise their drivers for multiple monitors. For serious 3D work, it's best to have one card per screen but for drawing a flat instrument GUI, there shouldn't be any issues. Updating or reinstalling the drivers is about all you should need to do. Or maybe there is an OpenGL package you can download and install? That would be worth checking out, I reckon, although you'll never know because you won't read this.
