My submission, as usual, didn't get into this synth much at first but it's actually pretty good.
Synth was really stable on my mac so ended up going a little "kitchen sink" with the composition but hey, I had fun.
https://soundcloud.com/hehirman/h-man-k ... 0b5907148d
As has become the norm, used Ableton Live 10 and of course this month's synth, GR-8 by phuturetone.
35 Instances of GR-8 with Live 10's stock plugins:
The Glue
Compressor
Limiter
EQ8
Utility
Reverb
Drum Bus (for transients only)
Edit: And Thomas Mundt's LoudMax on the master....

My entry for this month....
https://soundcloud.com/ontrackp/ontrack ... 1-master-1
GR-8 was a little frustrating at first but grew on me - and thanks to Phuturetone for making fixes during the competition!
Around 30 instances in Logic Pro X, Logic compressors, eq, reverb, delay. Nova Free and Limiter No6 on the master. And of course, STFU!

My "AmplitudeKungFu" Volume Pumper is growing. After a week of evening sessions it has already a Stereo-Display. Two parameters control it, i.e. the sync in musical time from 1/64 to 1/1 ... it's sample accurate. Second parameter is the "amount" of pumping. By now the pumping function it's only a hardcoded sigmoid but as you can see the "editor" has already started with adding and removing points and drawing a Juce:Path between them ... the fancy thing ... source code is all free... go and get it. I think in October I need another week to get the editor fully functional. After that I will add an analysis stage where you can freeze an bdr, create a interpolation for it and export a inverted version of it to apply on the tracks that should be side-chained... Protoplug is really cool. As I said ... I do only test on Bitwig.
The picture shows the stereo display. Red the incoming signal, green the outgoing pumped... you can see the sigmoid curve... ] Peter:H [

My submission:

FLAC: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xO1z4I ... sp=sharing
I decided to create a track in my usual style (a kinda synthwave with 70's flavour) as this instrument is very useful for it.
GR-8 is an all around VA synth with classic features and effects section. It is inspired by 80's Roland's synths for sure, particulary it looks like an improved version of PG-8X (a freeware emulation of JX-8P). The oscillator section is pretty standard, it would be great to see a waveforms from Alpha Juno like it was on a previous Phuturetone synths. The filter is very analog'ish, it loses bass when resonance turned up. The modulation section is kinda limited but has some useful tweaks. The voice mode section is very useful too (finally, an option to tune individual notes in a chord). The effects section is always a good bonus in freeware synth. It extends the potential number of timbres and sometimes can lead to unexpected results (I still remember effects on Synth1 that can make unexpectedly crazy sounds). A possibility to rearrange the order of effects in a chain would be a great feature. And it also would be great to have a more extreme distortion algorithm.
25 instances of GR-8 were used to create a track. All sounds from init patch. Mostly internal effects were used, except a few delay/reverb plugins. Every instrument contains one instance of GR-8, including drums.
Produced in FL Studio 20.8.
Native Effects:
x2 Parametric EQ 2
x2 Limiter
x1 Stereo Enhancer
x3 Delay
x1 Patcher
x1 Wave Candy
x1 dB Meter
VST Effects:
x11 Gareckon "MIDI Polysher"
x18 TDR "Nova"
x11 AdHd "Leveling Tool"
x1 Analog Obsession "Sweet Drums"
x1 D16 "Frontier"
x1 VoS epicVerb
Master Chain:
TDR "Nova"
Limiter №6
Total:
x25 Generators
x56 Effects
x29 MIDI Patterns
x24 Mixer Tracks
No Audio Clips
x22 Automation Clips

Hi guys,
here my little contribution for this month ...
Worked on it at the beginning of the month, but then ran out of ideas.
But what to do with a half finished track ?
So I sat down on my butt again and finished it.
GR-8 is not a bad synth, but still there are a few things that make it not my favorite ....
https://soundcloud.com/rockingricky/rockingricky-great
DAW: Cubase Elements 11
16 instances of GR-8
Intern FX:
Squasher (sort of EQ/Compressor)
Maximizer
RoomWorks (reverb)
Limiter
PingPongDelay
3rd party FX:
MCompressor
MSpectralPan
MLoudnessAnalyzer
Valhalla Supermassive
Limiter No.6
I hope you guys are doing well and wish you good luck in the contest.

What can I say, an interesting combination of a simple (but self-sufficient) synthesizer and a complex effects section, especially suitable for OSC with our limitations; however, I did not find my inspiration this time. Maybe if the randomizer had appeared earlier...
thanks for this synthesizer anyway! I put him 4 on KVR DC and am glad for his second place!) However, I have the following small problem with it:
Sometimes when switching presets, some effects do not switch, most often it happens with delay, and some synthesizer parameters, (for example, sometimes arp is not on/off). Also, when using a randomizer, sometimes I see that all the knobs of the synthesizer have changed their positions, but the sound remains the same, the effects are the same. As a rule, each of 3-5 switches/randomizations. Windows 7 64bit, Cakewalk, latest version of Gr-eat)
P.S. I know that W7 is outdated, so it probably doesn't matter if it doesn't happen for others.

Hello,
i'd like to introduce my tracks. These are two different tracks, just because i had two different ideas and finally decided to finish them both. I think it went not that bad even if these are not so complicated.
First one(which i want to be my submission):
https://soundcloud.com/krzysk124i/krzys ... b70e9438da
Used plugins:
-19 instances of GR-8 synth
-3 instances of Fruity Parametric EQ 2
-1 instance of fruity limiter(for sidechaining purpose)
-1 instance of fruity compressor
Second one:
https://soundcloud.com/krzysk124i/krzys ... e30deb8116
Used plugins:
-14 instances of GR-8 synth
-3 instances of Fruity Parametric EQ 2
-2 instance of fruity limiter
-2 instance of fruity compressor
I have not worked for a long time with such handy interface. Despite the synth offers simple oscillators, the effects give enough of possibilities. It was pleasure to work with that that month. Thanks!

Here is my submission for this month,
I wasn´t home for almost all of september so i really wish i had a week more or two to replace some parts.. but anyways here it is (I think the Jarre-Inspiration is rather obvious with this one).
I started off by collecting some ideas, i had a draft for a synthwave track but was bored of it - and didn´t like it. When I tried playing with the integrated Phase Shifter and thought maybe I could do something in the Jarre-Direction. I couldn´t come up with a good draft so I scrapped it. The next Idea was to make some modern EDM-Style track which - you guessed it - sounded like 80s Synthpop. That´s my curse: Everything i touch sounds like the 1980s XD
But it had one element i thought could have potential (It was the actual Bass-Sequencer you can hear in the submission). So i used it as a starting point and combined it with the Jarre Idea. That´s the story behind it.. Now you know

Looks like you are missing some Microsoft C++ libraries on your machine. To fix that, install this (assuming you are running the 64bit version of the plugin):
https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
You can find more information about the install here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-GB/cpp/wi ... w=msvc-160
Hope that helps!

I'm open to suggestions and would like to hear your opinion on what's missing.rockingricky wrote: Thu Sep 30, 2021 7:47 pm GR-8 is not a bad synth, but still, there are a few things that make it not my favorite...
There are some things that I don't like about the plugin (presets handling, MIDI assignment), and can't change them myself because I'm using SynthEdit for plugin development.
I'd be happy to implement anything else that I can and know how to make.
Thank you!

Updated my entry again, with some more sound sparks for all.
Still 12 tracks : 1 instance per track

I guess there are not many Bootsy Collins fans here, or "crazy funky kids". Anyway I hope someone will enjoy it.
