Waves Central, ilok license manager

So I rebuilt my system, have a new SSD which is bigger, and I cloned my system disk and moved everything, windows , Cubase the lot to this disk, which also has all my plugins on it.
Both of these license managers has unauothorised all the plugins in them, and Waves only allowed me to migrate 6 out of 70 and says I have to wait until Febuary 2022 until I can do the rest, and ilok wont allow me to use any of them with no apparent means to move them at all.
tbh its really fking annoying, and I can see a lot of issues coming now because of this, and I am sick of these protection systems that dont allow for things like this. I understand they use hardware to link to to identify the PC but when its the person who has the login details for the license managers to login to them to change things, surely they should just make it simple to do.
I hope they don't try to block me locating these licenses.

if you've got hardware-locked or hard-disk licences, you're meant to move them into the cloud or server *before* you upgrade or rebuild the system. or use a dongle.
they use the hardware specs as a key. now you have a different key and the old one has gone awol.

I didn't. But its hardly piracy, I am in my account, the system has been updated. How does that fair if your system just craps out and you don't get a chance to move stuff to the cloud ?gaggle of hermits wrote: Fri Oct 01, 2021 3:23 pm if you've got hardware-locked or hard-disk licences, you're meant to move them into the cloud or server *before* you upgrade or rebuild the system. or use a dongle.

If you still have your previous disk intact you can boot from it temporarily to deactivate your licenses stored on it. It's not just a Waves and iLok. Many licensing systems works this way, IK is another example - you better to deauthorise before you change anything or you loose 1 activation.
This is a reason i store Waves (as well as PA and iZotope) licenses on a flash drive. + iLok and eLicenser keys... This is a path of legit customer/user. You have to pass through the pain to prove that you deserve to be a Waves samurai.

I don't, thats the problem, I didn't think of any of this, so I cloned the drive , made sure it was OK then wiped the other one and used it for something else. Its only the ilok and waves plugins i've lost use of. NI and Izotope are working, Avenger isnt but that will get fixed im sure. All my elicenser obviously is OK. Its all fked up tbh lolVee Nee wrote: Fri Oct 01, 2021 3:56 pm If you still have your previous disk intact you can boot from it temporarily to deactivate your licenses stored on it. I guess thats why 6 of my licenses moved OK but the other 60 odd didnt.
I am getting more and more fed up with Waves. I cannot understand why they are limited how many times you can reactivate their stuff. Now I see why though, this instance would force me to pay 240 dollars to update WUP for a 2nd license.
I won't be doing that. And back in Febuary when I had to reactivate before, that was because their waves central went mad and blocked all my licenses, I had nothing to do with that.

Soundtoys , awesome company that they are reset all my licenses and I can redo them . I can't see AIR doing the same , but I have 2nd activation free anyway , it's just waves I'm waiting on and vengeance for avenger.

I didn't know, but if one vendor resets the licenses on an ilok account, all the other vendors are contacted and they authorise the same. So it's no suprised that AIR Music are the last ones I am waiting for...
Waves are ringing me today, to sort this out (I Hope) but they gave me a 7 day license so I wouldn't miss important days when I need to use them for video editing. Pretty cool, hope this gets sorted today.

I hate this kind of protection, this will protect only piracy, cause they don't have this kind of problems.
I keep myself out of every ilok plugin, and i own only one waves plugin for that reason, ufortunatly there are other utility i use as izotope and refx that have those kind of systems, i just hope their customer support if i have any issue can just reset and unauthorize older installation if my pc got broken or if i forgot to deactivate something. At the end of the day, i've payed for that plugins, and i don't even need to use them on multiple pc, just one.
A big wave to companies that use key system it's easier doesn't have these kind of issues and are more user friendly

The second WUP licenses are valid for 1 year, AFAIK.LeVzi wrote: Fri Oct 01, 2021 5:18 pm Now I see why though, this instance would force me to pay 240 dollars to update WUP for a 2nd license.
Do you have a disk backup and original drive to restore to retrieve the licenses to the cloud?
I once reinstalled Windows 10 and forgot to remove Ilok licenses from the HDD, I managed to use a disk backup to restore the image and move them to the cloud. I've since gotten a second Ilok dongle for the aforementioned machine. Waves' licenses are also on a USB flash drive.

I do have a disk image I took before all the moving around, but I don't have the drive now to reinstall to. And what a ball ache it would be.The Noodlist wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 1:21 pmThe second WUP licenses are valid for 1 year, AFAIK.LeVzi wrote: Fri Oct 01, 2021 5:18 pm Now I see why though, this instance would force me to pay 240 dollars to update WUP for a 2nd license.

The ilok stuff is sorted virtually and tbh I think I am going to see if I can move all the licenses to a hard ilok dongle, as much as I hate dongles, I now can see how handy they are over this mess.
Waves are going to ring me today to get this mess sorted. I'll wait for the call to see how that pans out. I can see that all going on a USB tbh. I'm going to need a new bigger USB hub for this. 3 damn dongles.

After all this, I can see one benefit of Dongles. And this is something I hate to admit, but they might be the answer to all this.
So my question is, can I move all my ilok licenses to a dongle ? And if Waves let me recover my licenses, I will be getting a USB for them too. I have elicenser for Cubase anyway, and many vengeance plugins.
I made a mistake when creating ilok accounts from license transfers on here, and ended up with 2 ilok accounts linked to the same email, ilok refused to help me out, but turns out the vendors can. But my other question is, can I upload more than one ilok account licenses to a dongle ?
