whether you *can* replicate a nest patch in architect or max/msp is not really the point.

Nest is just plain fun as hell. It encourages interesting experimentation within its limitations and fixed module structure.

I want a "midi grid" update for bitwig to let me do this sort of stuff in bitwig more easily (without hacky workarounds involving the replacer device) but in the mean time this is great.

Personally as a Bitwig owner I will wait for midi grid (and VCV2 is just about to drop as a VST). Nest is fun and clever but not worth the cost to me personally- I have a lot of Eurorack with MATHS and PNW etc, I can get lost and confused in hardware!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

is there any indication a midi grid will happen tho?

No roadmap, but it seems likely as there are lots of midi based devices and it’s all the same design framework.

Either way, NEST is a little limited for me….the advantage of a software modular is that there are no limits, you an keep adding modules until you run out of CPU. Nest has a predefined architecture and the sequencer is quite limited…it’s a ton of fun for an hour and then the restrictions start to get a bit annoying.
