I've not posted for a while due to a year of moving around and traveling.
Its a good feeling that have time to spend on some music now.
Feel free to give feedback on arrangement, mixing, and everything else.
I know my vocal could be a touch better. If you want to suggest a genre, let me know, I'm not sure.
The lyrics are not necessarily autobiographical. ; )

That was great! Personally I would have liked for it to have gone on a little longer with an epic finale; i know you took it up a notch half way, but I can imagine an epic guitar solo or something playing out the track, David Gilmour style (if you ever decide to add to it I would love to record that for you). As it stands it feels unresolved, but i still enjoyed it
btw, are you using autotune?

depressing but good. loved the ep and brass, and the vocals sounded fine to me.

"Drop me off, it's my time": I would say it's a "singer-songwriter pop" style.
Surprisingly the brass instruments, rather unusual. The vocals a bit like
"sprechgesang", but fitting very well.
The most important thing is the composition and the emotionality - and
they are really good. You have what it takes to compose beautiful songs
without hectic and overload. Great song! I enjoyed it and could now
hear the song dozens of times.

Well done. Genre? Who cares? It sounds great. I hear, of course, the Depeche Mode vocals. I also hear some Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons. Very easy to listen to song. I too would have liked some big guitar solo finish but it's fine the way it is.
I could listen to your stuff all day. I truly believe in another era you would have been a star.
Timing is everything.

Nice track! I enjoyed the brass. As someone else said, you have filled the piece with feeling. Sounded fine technically, to me.

Thanks Frank... I did try and include a guitar solo - I inserted Evolution Infinity guitar, but it didn't quite fit as good as the horns. I'll bear you kind offer of a guitar solo for next time. : )frank1985 wrote: Sun Oct 03, 2021 3:00 am That was great! I did Melodyne my vocals afterwards, then put them through iZotope Nectar to add L&R +12 harmonies. Thanks for commenting

high marks all around ...
i must say , i'm sensing something about the reverb
that seems off to me ... a bit too much on certain elements ...
not seeing anyone else commenting on that ; i'll take another listen
a bit later , and see if i still feel the same ...

No need to downplay your vocals. They sound great plus your phrasing is on point. I also like the overall moody vibe of this song. Good stuff.

Thanks Layzer, hope I didn't leave you depressed. Appreciate the comment and feedback; I've been working on my mixing in the past year. Actually leaving elements out and going for the 'less is more' approach; makes for a cleaner mix.layzer wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 1:23 am depressing but good. loved the ep and brass, and the vocals sounded fine to me.

I'm glad you liked it, I've been aiming at improving vocal melody and getting the hook/motif memorable. I'm still hoping to improve in that area.

Bansaw,
If my memory serves me (which is questionable), I think I own you one. Vocals, and in some ways instrumentally, reminds me of Depeche Mode (a compliment). Curious what the female background vocals are; I might own the same software? For me, the male vocals are the highlight of the song: very good! Are the male vocal higher pitch melodies created from pitch shifting, or you recorded them separately? Nice melodies and nice song!
. Audio quality is very good.

Thanks Wags, much appreciated. I did try and insert a guitar solo, but I never got to a point where I thought, "this is working". Maybe someone more skilled on the guitar would have done the job.wagtunes wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 1:24 pm Well done. Genre? Who cares? It sounds great. I hear, of course, the Depeche Mode vocals. I would have liked to work as a songwriter, or have been in a band. It was a hobby for many years. But to be a "star" you need the x factor I think. I would have loved being behind the scenes songwriting, or even mixing/producing.

You do realize how many "behind the scenes" guys and gals are HUGE names in the business.Bansaw wrote: Sat Oct 09, 2021 2:59 pmThanks Wags, much appreciated.
