Don't count on it. Soundtoys has the disease called iLok. Apparently, PACE has to do some actual work for transition their shitty software and (as we know) they like take their sweet time. Need those beauty naps!

i keep forgetting about iLok and apple silicon compatibility. it's quite a monkey wrench. though some devs that use iLok are testing M1 native versions so there must be some way this is happening???

edit: although - ??

There is no Pace for M1 yet, but we do know Pace are working on it, and that's it's apparently a big task for them. I wouldn't be surprised if they have something that's already working and that devs are testing before an official release, but at this current time, anything using Pace cannot have M1 native versions - there are already developers who have finished, working M1 ports of their software but simply cannot release them until they have a version of Pace that works on the M1.

Anyone that has any more info on Pace's progress is under NDA and can't say anything, so I don't think anyone who isn't under NDA knows anything about timescales, so we're all waiting for Pace at this point, and staying Intel/Rosetta for the time being.

is iLok licenser working under rosetta2?

As far as I know*, everything iLok is working fine under Rosetta...

*I'm waiting on the M1X machines before I switch, so I'm not using any ARM native stuff yet, so I don't have direct experience, but I'm sure others will weigh in on this.

I love soundtoys, such a cool company to deal with when you have an issue. Hope they have more flash sales soon, I need just a few more and i'll have them all. :)
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

It's not correct. There have been plenty of hints from Soundtoys that they're working on things. I'm sure Covid has slowed it down, but these threads are always full of uninformed speculation.
Let's look at what they've done. What they've done in the past few years is maintenance updates for v5. They teased some new plugins, with the implication that a release would be soon, but they've gone silent. They haven't released a new product or major product update in 4 years. Prior to v5 they had a fairly consistent release cadence with new plugins within every 14 months or so. They'd do a time limited free little version (in exchange for email addresses/social media), followed shortly after by a paid big version and then a paid bundle update with the new additions. Similar to how Arturia launched their Plate Reverb with a freebie offer. By the way we're still waiting for the big version of Soundtoy's Little Plate reverb after all these years.

Look at Waves they don't release as many plugins as they used to. But they don't go over a year without releasing anything. If a company like Eventide, Fab Filter or even NI hadn't released a single new plugin or major update in 4 years - we'd all be speculating!

Soundtoys is a great company. Very happy they're maintaining their stuff.

So, what would someone be missing out on by buying just the Effect Rack version of these plugins, instead of the full bundle? Obv. you don't get the "Little" versions of the plugins and you have to use the plugins within the single Rack plugin, but other than those two things, what would be any other disadvantages? If I want to use only a single plugin, pulling it up in an Effect Rack doesn't sound like it would be an issue, as long as there isn't missing functionality compared to the standalone version. Thanks.

That's what I did. I have a couple of the Little plugs - EchoBoy Jr and Little Plate, and I really like them, and then I have Effects Rack, so I can use all the other plugins. I also have simple presets in my DAW to load Effect Rack with particular plugins, so can quickly load a single "Decapitator" rack or whatever.

It would be nice to have the individual plugins of the full collection, but not £300 nice...

All the SoundToys plugins I bought for fairly good sale prices, and one of the things I like about the ones I use the most is that they are small, focused plugins for particular tasks, not huge sprawling multipage 1000+ parameter behemoths. As some different colours from other stuff I have, I find them useful.

I'd like to see a new version of Echoboy. It's awesome as is, and given how many years it's been out, I imagine Soundtoys could come up with improvements. I'd like to see the GUI expand in places and for the way you draw in Rhythm Echo to be easier (feels like it requires the precision of a jeweler with an eyeglass to adjust it to where I want it).

Post

The black knobs on a black background with small text of the older GUI's just don't hold up today. A redesign of the older GUI's to offer a few UI sizes but also just modernize the look and feel would be very welcome. For modules that produce saturation, optional oversampling would be nice too. Then just support for modern standards (VST3, M1 macs - which means waiting to figure out PACE) almost seems required at this point. Call that V6, offer it at a good upgrade price, and I'd be happy to shell out $99 just for that.

If SoundToys really wanted to impress me, they'd do fun stuff with the Rack like global LFO's, EG's, a global wet/dry mix, macro controls, or allowing you to insert FX's into Echoboy's feedback path! Now that'd be a helluva update!
