OK, I see the email now. Very short sale. It says until April 28th (ie tomorrow). Hopefully that means through tomorrow so I'll have time to check some stuff out.
Even with the description above I am still somewhat confused by the wide variety of auto gain type plugins so I guess I'll have to demo a few if I get the time. I definitely would like to pick one up. 31 and the guitar compressor pedal are intriguing too.

Nevermind... just too silly to use it... :hihi:

But they have sales quite often - more often than most others.

I see, thanks. Do they often go as high as 60% off?

I'll send you a PM.

There appears to be some overlap in the functions of Track Shaper, Autogain Pro, TrackUtility Mk2 and The Normalizer.  Is there one of these that will perform all of the functions of each?  I addition, is the Autogain function essentially compression, but allowing you to set the value to a particular RMS or peak level?

Thanks!
And here I am :D

BTW TrackShaper, TrackUtility MK2 and TheNormalizer all include our automatic gain staging technology, TheNormalizer is the only one of the bunch that focus exclusively on automatic gain staging, the other two include that algorithm for different purpouses (TrackShaper to make sure the input level is at the right spot for the internal algorithm, TrackUtility simply to help avoid peaks above a certain level)

AutoGain (and AutoGain Pro) is not a compressor, it's a volume automation utility, meant to adjust the volume of the track to keep it at the same level of any given reference (internal or external)

Saverio
Thanks again for the explanation, Saverio. I am still trying to wrap my head around the different uses of these plugins. I already have VU Meter MK3, which has the ability to group tracks and apply an AutoGain function. If I understand the information on the website, however, that function can be applied only to ensure that the peaks do not go above a certain level - it does not work on the RMS level. If I want AutoGain on the RMS level, I would need to get The Normalizer or TrackUtility MK2 (and probably wouldn't need both if I already have VU Meter MK3) - is that correct? Finally, if I understand correctly, AutoGain and AutoGain Pro will both normalize the volume to either RMS or Peak settings, but these two plugins will actually write the volume automation into the track itself, so that I don't need the plugin to be on the track once it has finished its work. Have I got this right?

Thanks again!

I've been trying to get a response from these guys for almost a month, after several messages to support. I don't know if they are ignoring me or simply their support team is currently not doing their job. It's sad because I always try to back these small developers, but this is not nice.

I looked this thread up to share my concerns about hornet, but I see that im not the first one to be traeted that way.
Several times I tried to report a bug that make ThirtyOne plug unusable in PT. No answer! At all, not even that they dont know what to do, or that its an Avid thing.

I used to consider Hornet and Saverio as a honest dev, with good contact with customers. Nowadays its just another always on "sale" moneymaker. His plugins were buggy sometimes, but people wanted to support, I really dont feel like it lately.

OK, another opinion. I’ve tried these plugins several times, everytime a new thing popped up that had some kind of interest to me. They never brought anything I couldn’t find anywhere else. They sound just OK. Not bad, not good, just kinda meh. So I never bought any.
True, they are cheap. True, I heard a lof of times that the guy is nice. I don’t care, sorry, I don’t work with a plugin because the guy is nice. And there are cheap alternatives everywhere (maybe not for every single plugin he’s making, please don’t try to play with this, I kown some of you :D ).
In the end, I simply don’t give a sh!t about Hornet plugins, very sorry.

Thats very true actually. One thing that stood against a lot though was that they were always unstable. Im doing some plugin clean ups. Deleteing all of hornet plugs as well. Glad that they were cheap

I totally respect your way of thinking, but I can't join you on anything.

To me it's like you're saying : "the guy is nice, he's a good worker, his plugins are cheap, so we should all buy them and be happy with them".

Well... just NO.

I understand where our opinion is different. To me, the plugins sound very average, when you really like them. Good for you, no problem. This means you won't change your opinion and I understand, it doesn't matter, that's a forum, we're talking.

But the thing is : why should we care if the coder is nice, if the coder is a good worker, if the price is nice, when you can find better somewhere else for the same price or even lower (for some products) ? Are we here to be helful to Hornet plugins or are we here to discuss the quality of sound ? This is a music production forum, not a charity forum.

I hope you understand. Not trying to flame you in any way, just talking.
