No. That's a UI text box element. If you click Rename you can see the background colour extending past the button. That's not an accident.abernathy wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 5:30 pm Ha! Everyone's "nothing" is someone else's "something". I am also OCD about the Patch display being crammed up to the Rename button. Looks wrong on the factory GUI as well with a long Patch name. Couldn't the Rename and Save buttons just be moved over a bit? Thanks!
I tried to change this when I was making the new skins for the latest release and realized it can't be changed as the text box relies on it. This is how the engine works. Sorry. (These 'fixes' also go through an approval process which me making changes would get undone if it wasn't approved, so it doesn't really matter). I tried changing the Rename / Save to Edit / Store like it shows on DX7 and that got reverted.
It's one of those things you'll have to live with.

Would love nothing more than work on it, sadly I'm stuck answering UI questions.Lucastyle wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 5:32 pm David any news on Part II? eagerly awaiting some more nerdness to enjoy while playin OPS7

I notice that when I drag a new .syx file to B on the SYX page the sound will change in A although the patch name stays the same. The patch in A has to be manually re-selected to get it back:
On the SYX page drag a .syx file to A. Select Patch 1
Drag another .syx file to B
The sound will change in A although the patch name does not.
100% reproducible here.

This is because A is selected as a constant target for SYSEX patches see "Layer Edit Buffer" in HW Librarian box. Granted this setting should not be hidden (Greyed out)Teksonik wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:07 pm I notice that when I drag a new .syx file to B on the SYX page the sound will change in A although the patch name stays the same. If so why does the sound change but not the patch name ?
Seems to work the same way when B is selected as "Layer Edit Buffer".

Because the patch name is not actually changed when you 'click around'. The patch name in the A tab only correspond to patches in the full A list, never to FILE, B or HW lists. Otherwise, think of it as "quick audition"/copy to A

I find this really confusing.
The "name" does not necessarily correspond with the actual settings in A (or B) - but rather the name in the slot on the syx page.
So, load a OPS7 preset that you saved (using only A not B). Now it will show the name of whatever syx you dragged to slot 1 - but will play your actual preset.
