Hi.

I am having this issue that I can`t bounce/mixdown my hardware synth like the access virus in realtime in Studio One. Isn't it an essential feature especially when working with hardware synths?

I am able to mixdown in realtime when exporting a whole song, but sometimes I would just like to bounce a track.
Do I miss an important step or setting here?

Post

an external instrument has to be rendered in real time; are you saying there is an option to bounce in real time?
I'm not getting the problem with exporting 'a whole song' if it won't, just arrange it so the export is not more than you need

If you’re using V5 then selecting an instrument Part (midi region) on an External Instrument track linked to an aux will render just that event in real time through the aux. I think it pops up a menu w options too

Hmm, if you don't mind can you explain further please? How can I render the event in realtime through the aux? Do you mean hitting record on the audio track which is connected to the external synth?

Make sure you have it set up properly, i.e. on one track.

Insert an audio track and make the input from Aux1 (or whatever Aux track that played the audio coming from your external instrument), then solo the instrument track and record it into the audio track.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Thanks a lot. Its a few more steps then just hitting mixdown but that actually helps :)

Still, wonder how big of a deal it would be to get an option for a track bounce/mixdown in realtime. The feature obviously exists already when exporting the whole song. It would be a bit more convenient.

Actually you can just right click the clip and choose to "bounce to a new track"!

What I did before is just by guessing! This is what I like about Studio One, you can just guess and it mostly would work ;)

Just select the region linked to the external instrument/aux and hit bounce. I mean the actual External Instrument feature.

Edit: saw that Engee figured it out. Nice! Yes it’s a nice feature, it didn’t do it when that feature first came out though, rather new addition.

Have you watched the video I posted? Since 5.x you can actually make external instruments work like VSTs, including saving the setup to a preset that you can recall in other projects by drag & drop.

Hi, sorry, yes I watched it. But it looks like with the access virus its a bit different.
It already comes with an VST integration software and all audio data gets actually transfered via usb.
When using the access virus VST instrument software its automatically setting up the audio channel for me.
Now the issue is when bouncing to a new track it doesn't use the actually audio output of the access virus usb output for bouncing. That's why I wont get any audio information through "bounce to new track" Or I am still doing something wrong

I am not sure if there is an easier way especially with the access virus. I guess with other analog hardware it all makes sense what everyone is saying.

There is a guy that uses Virus and Studio One. His username is "recursive one". I'm sure he would help you faster if you contact him, otherwise, you need to give us more info about your setup.

How do you connect the virus to your computer? What interface/driver do you use in Studio One?
How is your audio is going to your computer? Is it through the USB or through TRS cables into your audio interface? And finally how do you monitor your audio?
