I was recently reminded of Analog Obsession and took a curious peek around his Patreon site. Anyone have any recommendations for outstanding gems from A.O.?
Also, I remember there was a malware scare a while back; I take it this has been cleared up?
Thanks!

Kind of lost Track with these, in a similar Way to Airwindows.
All very good, yet way too many to keep everything in Mind.
Just too much Output for me, personally.

for what they are, they're great. problem is, these plugins are a perpetual project, so most plugins receive major version upgrades changing the sound. so, you can't depend on them for your sessions unless you never update them.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Yeah, an overabundance of choice can sometimes be worse than too little... Suppose I'll just have to dive in and decide for myself.El°HYM wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 1:34 pm Kind of lost Track with these, in a similar Way to Airwindows.

I always disliked the way some devs will change the underlying sound without changing the major version number. Something they would all benefit from considering, IMO.Burillo wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 2:20 pm for what they are, they're great. problem is, these plugins are a perpetual project, so most plugins receive major version upgrades changing the sound. so, you can't depend on them for your sessions unless you never update them.

It's hard to maximize the value of such a large toolkit taken as a whole, so as with airwindows I tend to try to find one that works for a particular situation when a need arises. I like the new Room041 plugin's functionality and tone a lot, that's one that I have already integrated into my kit pretty well I think and I like it on a few different sources. I certainly understand the concern about ongoing developments causing projects to be unreliable and sounds to change over time, and I appreciate it when there is good versioning to denote a finished path of development versus a continuing one generally speaking.

I can highly recommend downloading them all (in my case only the ones that work natively on Mac M1) and then mixing 3 - 5 songs in a "just use these plugins" manner. It's a quick and dirty way of learning which ones you prefer.
So far my go-to ones are these:

My most used ones are BUSTERse, G395a,STEQ and TUBA. Channev is also very nice. The new reverb plugin seemed cool as well when I briefly tried it, haven't gotten around to playing with it more seriously yet.

The ones that I tend to use are Fiver, SSQ, G395A, Kolin, Varimoon, Britpressor and probably CHANNEV (Not fully decided whether I keep it yet).
I’ll stick to the M1 compatible ones, not because I have a Mac, but those are all done with a new framework (Juce, I guess), and Tunca promised that he won’t do any more breaking changes with those. Let’s hope he remembers that, because that is one thing I don’t want to deal with, plugins that change sound and/or break session compatibility with a new version. Giving a plugin a new name and a different plugin id can’t be that difficult, other devs do that regularly…
People keep pestering him about that on gearspace, too. we’ll see.
Regarding “malware” scare: I upload every software to virustotal before installing it on my system. No problems so far.

Which OSS do you use? I don't know if there's any sonic difference. It might be a different skin, I did have a mess, I can't remember what. Definitely LALA. https://www.behance.net/gallery/108519971/LALA-Skins
Edit, the first OSS appears to V5.

This is exactly the problem I am having with Analog Obsession. The Noodlist wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 7:03 pmWhich OSS do you use? I don't know if there's any sonic difference. It might be a different skin, I did have a mess, I can't remember what. Definitely LALA.oss.png

Those do look pretty decent, though.
