Melda plugins looked quite good to me (if a nice color scheme is selected). This is a step in the wrong direction. The only good thing is: it can be disabled.

Oh well, I'll have to give their MAutoVolume a miss.
Anyone know of another brand that offers an auto volume plugin?
waves has these leveler plugins. but i bought the Hornet ones
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.

I don't think the sound quality of the Melda plugins has ever been an issue. Yes, they do sound good and top notch in general.

All the complaints I keep seeing over the years in different music forums are always the same: the messy UIs & difficulty of using & navigating in them, bloated interface full of buttons and stuff, the messy installer with files all over the place. I believe Melda has underestimated the importance of UI's and interfaces a long time ago, and now he's totally stuck since all their plugins are built on the same frame. With 112 plugins, there's probably no way to rebuild form scratch the whole thing...

If they could once and for all fix those issues, they would finally rank up in there with the top ones. But for now, they're still in the lowest-middle rank for most people because of those quite important problems.

I have the pro version of Hornet's plugin, but I don't use it as I don't really understand it, so I don't trust it. If I were you, I'd go for the cheap version of it.

The Waves version I haven't tried, but I think it's kind of a de facto plugin.

When installing v15 of Melda's plugins, I went to their web site and noticed I happen to own MAutovolume as well. Kind of amusing, as I've had my eyes on it for a while now, awaiting the 50% off sale.

Can I ask, what didn't you like with MAutovolume?

I love the new look of these updates, and I appreciate Melda's investment in this.

I understand the purist's view that it shouldn't matter, but truth is - the visual is part of the usability experience... And you can revert to default if you don't like it.

So it's a win for everyone.

I'm new to Melda plugins but I can see myself buying now whereas I wasn't interested before.

Long-term fans should appreciate that this move may expand the user base.

More users means more plugins and more updates.

The Bundles are better value than individual plug-ins. And, I believe that you get a partial discount if you already have any of the plug-ins in the Bundle.

And, just consider how many custom GUIs MeldaProduction have built. They are a small team.

Over the years, many people have said that they did not like the factory GUI styles. Now MeldaProduction has produced custom GUIs for many of the plug-ins. And people do not like some of those either. Wrong sort of skeuomorphism?

If you are not keen on the appearance of a particular custom GUI, then let MeldaProduction know, using their Contact form, and make some constructive suggestions for improvement. I have and it works, :)

Same goes if you would like to see different controls on the GUI.

To me, FModern2 fixed whatever issues I had with the Melda GUIs - I think this particular skin is perfect.

That is because Vojtech as well as some of you more enthusiastic users of Meldaproduction plugins, have made it very easy for themself to repulse criticism of the plugins as "it's just the looks". While other "ugly" plugins have been presented for comparisons and were still being used frequently from a big customer base in many examples, showing the issue lies in other parts.

I too don't think the new graphics are much of an improvement. Besides only being part of some plugins, some styles really do not fit together very well or introduce more distraction than clearness, they havn't fixed the usability issues that came up in most of the criticism topics in the first place. It's just another sandbox to puzzle pre-made elements into something bigger.

Also it was said earlier, that quality was never an issue with Meldproduction plugins, which is also not quite true. There have been many posts talking about smearing/missing sharpness with most of the spectral plugins, plugins not creating reliable constant results in the same situation (like MAutoAlign), sound and behavior of filters especially when modulating, more and early distortion in limiters or maximizers, or just in general the comparison between the "originals" and the cloned ones. Or even pointing out that sometimes neither frequent Meldaproduction users know what the difference between certain plugins is or that Vojtech himself doesn't know which features are part of his own products or have been implemented.

I've now played around with v 15 for a while, and arrived to the conclusion that I too prefer the pure, old styles. That said, I'm happy for those who prefer the new skins; they've made a MASSIVE amount of them! Just for MSF, there are I don't know how many.

So what did I do? Well, I made a colour consistent layout that I like. It was quite easy (steps below). For those who prefer other colours, just do what I did but not.

1. Open a payware Melda plug (ie not a freebie, won't work).
2. Go to Settings to get to the UI settings from that pane (the Style button).
3. Choose whatever basic style config and colours you like. Note that the style config (Argon, Titanium etc) also include some non-replaceable colours of their own, which I found a bit confusing when doing this. They also have their own buttons; I'd prefer to be able to use buttons and other style config separately, but it's not a biggie. Also choose uppercase or not for some of the headings, as well as resize the Ui to your liking.
4. Press OK.
5. Click Select current style as default.
6. In Global System Settings, deselect Custom GUI for devices. (Note that this isn't available for MSF's Settings pane; I label it a bug.)

That should do it!

For me, I needed to redo these steps for a new song in my DAW (MuLab). However, I guess the Melda plugs will remember my choice if I apply the settings to a template and save the changes there, at least as long as I keep a paid Melda plug in the template.

My new layout, based on Argon

And my first attempt, based on Vintage

Note that all of my Melda plugs now show up like the Argon-Red layout above.

...and when I get tired of red, I'll just switch to blue.
