Dark, thin, half of space remains unused. Not very welcoming.

Congratulations to David on this casual release of one of the greatest VST's ever! I'm all for the purist approach, the MK1 (with warts, lousy DAC and all) is the ultimate FM synth, but for extended mode I would appreciate if you'd consider a per-note random detuning function, it's just about the only thing I missed in my DX7.

The Patch Base DX7 programmer is up there for sure. It's not the most inviting to FM noobs but very intuitive when you get the hang of it, and most importantly it's readable and well ordered. The other example posted on page 31 looks like a cluttered mess by comparison. Its only issue is the page split between 3 operators and that the DX7 isn't very quick at following the changes, which wouldn't be a problem with software.briefcasemanx wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 5:48 pm What's the most intuitive fm synth UI? With all the negativity and nitpicking, I feel like I should say that I like the GUI overall. It makes me feel like I have control over a 6-OP FM synth for the first time, whereas Dexed just seemed like a mess to me. FM8 had some nice macro controls, but beyond that it felt more fiddly to me than OPS7 does.

It's 'manly' to always criticize stuff. Otherwise if you are just satisfied and happy with something you must be a fanboy and blind follower.foosnark wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 12:26 pm With all the negativity and nitpicking, I feel like I should say that I like the GUI overall. It's just the patch name (for A and B) that confuses me.
I think I figured out why though - I've been thinking in terms of OPS7 presets, where this (the patch name) is looking at the contents of the "banks" on the syx page. So if you only use OPS7 presets then what the "patch" field says isn't necessarily what the currently loaded settings are.
I'm getting my head around it though

Yes seriously the developer has such thin skin that he can't even take constructive criticism without GIVING UP.
LOL Wow.....
The patch handling makes no sense what so ever and that comes from someone who used to own a DX7/TX7 combo. Loading a bank into one would not change the patch in the other simple as that. The patch name should always match the sound that's being played.
I never owned a DX7IIFD but I can't imagine the patch handling was that bad. If it was then that's not something worthy of emulation.
Anyway I get it, some people like the plugin so they should buy it and enjoy it. I've burned out on FM sounds to the point that if I need a nostalgia fix I'll just use Dexed and some external FX.
I wished him good luck with his project but it's just not for me.
So yes I'm out if people will just stop quoting me.....

I deleted that post a few seconds after rage posting it and yet trolls continue to quote it over and over. This is bullying.

Back on topic, happy to report that we have found a way to drastically improve CPU usage. Will be in next version!

Paintable ADSR is an issue with both this and chipsynth MD because the actual curves are not linear nor follow some spline maths so you cant devise mouse picking for them. What you see in the display is the _actual_ curve generated by the EGS chip. Believe me we wanted to.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 9:04 pm Neat! Many DX7 editors show this as linear segments - which is not accurate.
As far as filters go, its not a definitive no, but not in the near future.
