You still can't deny the fact that FL simply can't do everything that other software packages by Steinberg, Cakewalk, or Emagic can let alone compare it to the software produced by the other major heavyweights in the music industry.
of course it can't. But they can't do everything FL does neither. Nor they can do everything others do neither.

...cough... i have used cubase and cakewalk for about 4 years, also with external gears, since 1998 i'm using trackers and other 'non pro' software...so, believe me, i know what i'm speaking about...
Mystical_Fantasy wrote: Once again this is why $99.00 downloadable software does not run my studio.
FLStudio XXL 'boxed' is about $399
Cubase SE is $140, Logic express $299, cubase e logic are for weekend musicians, period :D :D :D :D
Mystical_Fantasy wrote: Whether people like what I do or not musically doesn't matter to me but in the end what I produce is indeed, "pretty good" like you said and it's only getting better. Of course that's only possible using the proper software. :D
i listened to your tracks, pretty good, but i heard better things made with...cough...Buzz...sorry :)

Please explain how you came to the conclusion I haven't "used any type of serious music creation and production software"?

I don't need to provide any facts or data as I haven't claimed anything about FL in our discussion, I was asking you to justify the claims you made. You have offered nothing but unsubstantiated opinion.

When I did reply to your assertion that no-one famous was using FL I did back it up with data. You still haven't come back to me on Mike Oldfields 40,000,000 albums sold. He most definitely is a household name and happy to be associated with FL, just because you haven't heard of him doesn't change the facts.

as much as I love FL I can't say I will ever have a song that's all FL. Like gol suggests I use a better editor/multi-track for audio, I use vsampler and b4 a lot with FL as well...but I have no limits and all my new songs (in the last year and a half roughly) are composed and written in FL and guitars and vox are done in AA. :D

As Hink says – I will never have an all FL song either,

while its possible to have everything done in FL – why do so? When there are so many goodies free and otherwise to bolt into it.

One of FLs benefits is the easy interaction with vst/vsti/dxi etc.

Best regards,

I used FL3 and Sonar 1/2 for a year or two. Then I replaced Sonar with Cubase SX. The fact that FL could (later in 4 i guess) run as a VSTi/DXi or Rewired to those hosts and also host VSTi/DXi within itself is pretty amazing. Still, working in two apps did make workflow suffer a bit (especially since I only have one monitor).

Then FL4 showed up with audio recording and I started working almost exclusively in FL. I still kept Cubase around for the rare occaision I needed to use loop recording or something.

Now that FL5 is here, Cubase is as good as sold. No reason to keep it around. I have Sound Forge in case I need to do some heavy editing. Still I use FL's internal wave editor for most things as it is really quick and easy.

Mythical Fantasy really dodges the important points and skirts the issues... what's the point continuing a debate with him?

Jesus Christ, where do these folks come from?

If I were to come on a message board and start slagging off a piece of software then I`d make damn sure I had some tunes to back up my statement.

Rather than the cheapo, low budget porno music I hear when I visit your "site".

Daddy: I had an argument with my wife

Babysitter: I was wondering why you were back from your dinner party so early.

Daddy: It`s ok, I`ll pay you for the full evening as we agreed.

Babysitter: I`m sure there`s some other way you can pay me...

(cue your shit music)

I'm glad I saw that first...man I would of been really ticked off if you were talking to me....do you know how much you can make writing for porn.....and the fringe benefits? I'd of been really mad missing out on that.

Mystical_Fantasy, I've used Cubase SX 2, Reason 2.5, as well as Sonar 3. All BEFORE FL. I prefer FL. You never answered my quiz on which of the links I posted contained songs made with FL and which were made with more expensive sequencers along with big time samples and hardware. I wonder why..?
Once again FL can't do or handle where I want to go musically today on it's own, period!
So? When you shell out $999 for Logic you're also paying for a bunch of built in plugins that you may or may not want. With FL, you're getting a 'skeleton' program, basically, with a lightning-fast workflow and a huge host of features. If you want more features (in the form of instruments and effects), you pay for as many as you need. It's so simple.
headquest wrote:Using VSTs is not the same as using FruityLoops. Sure, FL can host VSTs, but so can most programs. The point of this thread was to debate whether FL is enough on its own - without other tools. If I'm going to use VST plugins for everything (and I do use them a lot, so don't misunderstand my 7point!) then I can use any number of programs, not just FL.
Right, but the cost of said VSTs plus FL is often less than the integrated applications you speak of - plus, FL has an extraordinarily fast, stable, CPU-efficient workflow that we've all mentioned already. I'd rather be able to pick and choose what 'good' tools I want with my sequencer and pay less for the sequencer than get stuck with a certain set of tools and pay far more.

Yeah. you can only make hardcore porn using Adobe Premiere. If you are using let's say Sony Vegas, then it's just soft porn. No matter how much A2M!!!
