Just 30 minutes ago our 'embodme Erae Touch' (https://www.embodme.com/product/erae-touch) arrived at my doorstep. Didn't unpack it yet, can't wait.
So yeah, I know.

Hanz Meyzer wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 9:04 pm Neat! Get's more and more attractive :) Damn, the only problem I personally have is the missing graphical paintable adsr and a filter maybe :hihi:
Paintable ADSR is an issue with both this and chipsynth MD because the actual curves are not linear nor follow some spline maths so you cant devise mouse picking for them. What you see in the display is the _actual_ curve generated by the EGS chip. Believe me we wanted to.
Many DX7 editors show this as linear segments - which is not accurate.

As far as filters go, its not a definitive no, but not in the near future.
so no mouse editing for envelopes? Ever? I'm so spoiled by AuroraFM envelope editing. So maybe sliders like PortaFM they are faster to edit than knobs.

Unless we add non Yamaha-exact envelopes I really don't see how. It would move weirdly with the mouse. We've tried.

Awesome .
I get 13% cpu usage with a single layer , which is pretty good , bringing it further down is most welcome .
Enjoying ops immensely !
Now please let us load two different previously saved single layer user ( fermata )patches in the A-B slots , NOt the sysex stuff

Is there any point to get this if I have DX7 and Dexed ? I hate the Arturia patch manager, looks like it's made for old people working on tablets. And Dexed is very cluncky to program for me.

i think there's a demo for it now so you should check it out. i have the arturia dx7 and i like it but the interface makes me crazy sometimes. i like OPS7 a lot and the interface takes me to different places and perhaps clicks w/my brain better too. i like it. $50 is a great deal imo. i really like the sound of it.

Why not move the nodes with the mouse? That would cause the Level and Rate values to change accordingly, without the user having to mess with TWO parameters to get the same result.

That's the way all DX7 editors I know worked.

Me too. Your system makes no sense whatsoever. Good luck with your project. I'm out. :tu:
Seriously? LOL wow...
Yes seriously the developer has such thin skin that he can't even take constructive criticism without GIVING UP.

LOL Wow.....

The patch handling makes no sense what so ever and that comes from someone who used to own a DX7/TX7 combo. Loading a bank into one would not change the patch in the other simple as that. The patch name should always match the sound that's being played.

I never owned a DX7IIFD but I can't imagine the patch handling was that bad. If it was then that's not something worthy of emulation.
You are absolutely right. Don't pay attention to the fanbois. Actually, if they think they are helping the developer, they are not.

If the DX5/DX1 features are implemented (the possibility to layer two patches, or "voices" in the Yamaha DX nomenclature), then OPS7 needs to have two kinds of presets, just like the DX5/DX1 had: Voice (one sound), and Performance (two sounds), with the possibility to call Voices into Performances, and store the result as a new Performance.

Each Performance has its own Voices associated, and when recalled, recalls them into their positions (A and B).

THIS IS BASIC PRESET MANAGEMENT.

I’ve now bought OPS7 and have to say it is superb. The character of the sound is on another level. I’ve never owned a DX7, but it now feels like I own one! 👍

The only way is through sysex right now. Adding another preset box in A and B would really confuse users we feel. [edit] (Sysex vs single slot .fermatap like in MD) we need to think about this.

Then my next question is ..
How to convert fermata files to sysex ?
Take all the time you need to get this sorted in a fluid way , ops still rocks :tu:
