I bought them but only a few that I liked - but each to their own

Interesting, I was thinking they'd be very much a learning exercise too, there's some of the concepts in the description that I'm not that familiar with... oscillator spreading, mid/side filtering, feedback cycling, oscillator soaking
maybe it's just flowery language though... cheers for weighing in

This thing sounds amazing. Got it for a good price 36.99 and I am glad I did, looks complicated but flicking through the presets I am loving the quality.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

V1.0 of Knifonium had BX© signature patent pending aliasing - just like analog tube gearkobal wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 10:03 am "taking the BX knowledge of tube gear hardware-modeling " then i dont expect much better sound behavior than their pluginsbut i might give it a try..

Knifonium sounds great.

Love this synth, the side chain is very cool. This is one of my favorite tools atm.

It doesn’t really matter if it’s perfect or not, Decapitator and SDRR alias (not sure about HQ+ in SDRR) and they’re perfectly awesome. Personally I think Knifonium is awesome to use and sounds great, but not for everything. It can do a certain few kinds of smooth and a few more kinds of gritty that I like. It’s easier to get it to those places than it is Phase Plant/etc. synths. Similarly for Diva/Repro which just tend toward a different direction.

Yeah, I've never heard any aliasing so it's irrelevant to me. Even if there is some, I'd rather have a synth that sounds this good with a bit of aliasing that something boring and sterile that has none.

Anything can alias, at least at the current time, in the digital realm.E_Anderson wrote: Fri Oct 08, 2021 1:57 am It doesn’t really matter if it’s perfect or not, Decapitator and SDRR alias (not sure about HQ+ in SDRR) and they’re perfectly awesome.
What matters is how much and at which point.
The oversampling in SDRR in HQ mode makes aliasing almost negligible for the kind of way the plugin it's supposed to be used.
I don't have Decapitator but I heard it's bad in that regard, which isn't surprising if it doesn't oversample. Still, many highly rated producers and mix-engineers seem to love it.
And it's clearly going to be a matter of frequency content anyway... saturating bass can be perfectly fine... drum overhead mics not so much.
Knifonium pre-patch had serious aliasing issues even with the initialized sawtooth preset when playing in the upper octaves, to the point it was acknowledged and patched really quick.
Now, although not perfect, it's definitely usable in the higher range too.
Cool (soft)synth.
I wish they included the joystick in the plugin, because XY pads can be awesome modulation sources.
Of course it's possible to work around it inside the DAW, but it would have been cool if it was included as part of the emulation.

what a bullshit argument for lazy codingBONES wrote: Fri Oct 08, 2021 3:40 am Yeah, I've never heard any aliasing so it's irrelevant to me. Even if there is some, I'd rather have a synth that sounds this good with a bit of aliasing that something boring and sterile that has none.
That's a fine example of false dichotomy - you should really get into politics.
This is not an "either or" scenario. It's not "oh i'll take aliasing because the other option is boring and sterile" - because that's not true. The other options are great and don't alias.
You have plenty of synths that sound this good or better with no aliasing, so i'd rather have that instead.

But do they sound like Knifonium though?
Probably not. And no, I’m not talking about the aliasing, lol...

They can if you add a resampler plugin without AA filter after it lol.
That said, patched version doesn't alias too bad anymore - first version was garbage tho. And people here were claiming that it's tube emulation.
until a week later anyway.
They never ever fixed the bug that changes parameter automation/direct interaction response if you change sampling rates. That means they f'ed something about timing constants in the synth, and i'm not fond of dodgy synths.
I demoed it twice, and was never blown away, although i do appreciate it has sidechain input.
