I'm glad I saw that first...man I would of been really ticked off if you were talking to me....do you know how much you can make writing for porn.....and the fringe benefits? I'd of been really mad missing out on that.
Yeah. you can only make hardcore porn using Adobe Premiere. If you are using let's say Sony Vegas, then it's just soft porn. No matter how much A2M!!!

shhh, my wife will hear you, she thinks that ceramic unicorn I gave for last xmas just has cool eyes. :hihi:

Firstly, this is a ridiculous argument in the first place. To each his own...we all use what we like. 9th Wonder is one of the hottest producers in hip-hop, and even he admits that people still question his use of FL.

Now I'm not a musical genius by any means, but I seriously don't get what it is about Mystical Fantasy's music that he cannot accomplish in FLStudio. He's not composing operas, for christ's sake. Using Broadjam stats to suport an argument?? I'm sure some of the more talented FLS users here can duplicate his work easily, and probably improve on it.

Mystical_Fantasy wrote:Who the hell needs to spell out the differences between "budget" and pro software? FL is what it is just as jens himself said. Give it up, FL's just no match for top notch software. If it was, I would be using FL instead of the host I do now and so would many others. Shit, if you can't handle the facts dude, maybe you should try using a new host/sequencer for a change. If you tried Cubase, Logic or Sonar, you misght actually like it and then you would KNOW the difference. Later.
Your point about FL Studio being "budget" software is misguided. FL Studio Producer Edition with the Sytrus plugin alone cost $328. FL Studio is priced modularly. This makes it possible for customers to purchase those tools which they find most useful and not bother with the others. If you wish to purchase all optional components, the price is far more "professional". I just added up each of the optional components of FL Studio in their online store. Without discounts, the total comes to $649.

Your point about the included samples in FL Studio is valid. The FL Studio demo does not come with many high quality samples like Reason. This is because the product is usually sold online. The download size would be prohibitively large if better samples were included. However, you may not be aware that FL Studio ownership entitles the user to download over 2 gigabytes of quality samples from samplefusion.com.

As for why you should spell out your criteria for "professional" software:
* It might lend credibility to your ranting
* It would provide us with an opportunity to have a discussion that is less subjective.
* Potential users might learn valuable information, actual differences between your host and FL Studio.

You eloquently stated "Shit, if you can't handle the facts dude, maybe you should try using a new host/sequencer for a change"... In summary, facts are all that we are seeking.

I think FLS is like a "Groove Box" in steroids, it is more of an instrument. I don't think it can be compared to the big multi tracking software programs.

In graphic software comparison

Adobe Photoshop = Cubase

PaintShop Pro = FL Studio

Ulead Photoimpact = eXT - Orion

Mediahance RealDraw Pro = Tractition

Swish = Reason

Not got a clue about Pro Tools, but I guess it would be some obscure graphic app like Zbrush

They all do piccys, it just depends what you need most out of your application and how you want to get there.

You rank them - I can't :hihi:

Midi = Cubase 100% and unless you look at cubase you wont know why.

Automation = FL Studio (maybe Pro Tools too, not sure) and unless you look at FL n Pro Tools you wont know why.

You use depending on need.

now fit the rest in order :D may as well list the 1 strength of each app. I think you will find it tricky - and not many will agree, you get the application for the job in hand - and some apps have more - but take time to learn and use.

This is why the whole thread is a bit silly, we all have our own preferences.

i like how you can put vst_fx and vsti's in fls mixer. i.e. you can trigger some midi-receiving filter and a vsti from same midisend channel, both effecting a drumloop or other audio, with ease i haven't seen elsewhere - only drawback is to me that mixer somehow doesn't recognize vsti's well enough so if you use the dry-wet knob, you may hurt your monitors.

other than that, i would like to see improved flash compatibility in next versions. if this happens, it would be awsome if, say, xxl version could support some surround audio? I know I can vsti fls into cubase but was thinking of having separate machines for different purposes and I like boxed versions better.

The fact that FL could (later in 4 i guess) run as a VSTi/DXi or Rewired to those hosts and also host VSTi/DXi within itself is pretty amazing. Still, working in two apps did make workflow suffer a bit (especially since I only have one monitor).

Then FL4 showed up with audio recording and I started working almost exclusively in FL. I still kept Cubase around for the rare occaision I needed to use loop recording or something.

Now that FL5 is here, Cubase is as good as sold. No reason to keep it around. I have Sound Forge in case I need to do some heavy editing. Still I use FL's internal wave editor for most things as it is really quick and easy.
In order words, it is possible to get by with FLS. 8)

And it's still up to the artist (not the softwares) to pull this off. :)

If I were to come on a message board and start slagging off a piece of software then I`d make damn sure I had some tunes to back up my statement.

Rather than the cheapo, low budget porno music I hear when I visit your "site".

Daddy: I had an argument with my wife

Babysitter: I was wondering why you were back from your dinner party so early.

Daddy: It`s ok, I`ll pay you for the full evening as we agreed.

Babysitter: I`m sure there`s some other way you can pay me...

Let see:

FLS = Roland TR Series (step sequencer), Akal MPC (counting FPC), Yamaha DX Series (DX10, Sytrus), Roland Classic Synths (Wasp, mda JX10), guitars (FL Slayer, Plucked!), Recycle! (BeatSlicer), Fender Rhodes (FL Keys), etc.

Trust me Omalley, FLS 5 is way better than a simple groovebox. And it has no equal (beside Orion). 8)

And so far 81% of the voters are happy with FLS 5. So maybe FLS can finally have that so called "worst host" title remove now.

Beside, I always felt that the previous polls on this and simular threads were pure rubbish to begin with.

Either way, FLS is finally getting some respect this week! :D
