I did a very quick test. The aim was to create a similar piece of music with a similar vibe testing my approach of looking at effects as the main ingredient in creating such lush ambience.

I spent 5 minutes choosing sounds. I have unison sinewave, a raw flute sample, a choir sample, and unison sawtooth for the bass.

First with effects:

and how it sounds without effects:

So I'd say with full confidence, don't obsess on what type of software you need to use. You don't need Omnisphere, or Kontakt, or whichever uber synth/sampler people will be recommending. Be creative, don't look at presets. Try simple combination of sounds with nice effects. This is the easiest way to get such sounds. Then as you feel confident, start making deeper sounds by utilising synthesis, perhaps to get deeper, more intricate textures that effects alone may not be able to provide. By doing it yourself you will get a sense of greater joy. There, my contribution to the New Age meditative proceedings. :D

Wow! That's really interesting to hear and compare, thank you for doing that! I will try that out, and see what I come up with. Most of these videos are 3-12 hours long, I tried listening to the one I posted for as long as possible, and I didn't hear a loop, it seemed to just continually change in subtle ways, which is why I thought it might be generative.

Whether it is generative or played is another matter. I would venture a guess and say that it is not generative, since the whole point of such meditative compositions is to imbue them with a human touch, with one's intuitive approach. It's about *you* sitting in a meditative state while playing it live. That's what it should be, in my opinion. So, I wouldn't want to seek out any 'generative music making devices' for this purpose, but rather do it live, from your heart.
