Hi All,

Since joining on KVR I’ve discovered so many companies & developers that make plugins/VST’s that I’d never come across in all my years of music making. It was like another world/level that I knew nothing about.

I’m really interested in hearing about your favourites that maybe aren’t as well known as some companies.

It’s not about being negative or dumping on popular choices, more about recognising or recommending a developer or a plug-in, maybe that does things a bit differently, that you wish you’d discovered years ago and went….

I’ll start off with the Goodhertz range. I came for the Vulf Compressor off the back of the 303 Vinyl Sim algorithm but I’ll stay for everything else too. I can’t find a plug-in that they make that I wouldn’t want or use. Truly useful stuff but I’d never heard of them 3 months ago.

I think the guy at Sound Dust is great too, I love the unconventional approach to his instruments - they feel like actual instruments rather than just devices in Kontakt.

I like Parallåx-Audio's Virtual Sound Ståge 2 a lot.
It generates early reflections for each sound source based on where you place it within a virtual room, creating a 3-dimentional image.

As a piano player first and music producer second, I love Pianoteq by Modartt. When I just feel like playing a bit, I open the standalone app. Sounds great, tells me the chords I'm using, and default records everything I'm playing, so I can quickly export MIDI file to the DAW if I just came up with something I like.

Thanks - Just had a look of the back of that and they are great. They absolutely nail the vibe with Phonorec that so many others go after.

Plogue's whole line-up. The Chipsynths sound like my childhood, Sforzando has some nice free and third-party libraries, and just for fun I like Chipspeech or the free Alter/Ego.

Not mentioned as often as others, but it's a favorite of mine for guitars.

I got Klanghelms SDDR Tube for free with my PreSonus hardware. Never knew about this developer, but hot damn this is a good saturator.

If you have access to Presonus Studio Magic, get it there, otherwise you can pick it up for cheap second hand (like 5$) and upgrade it to full for 18$. For what this plugin does, this is mindblowing value.
