Email I sent to Pinnacle Customer Help on 8 Oct 2004:-
I am currently using Cubase VST5.1 r1 and am finding it very frustrating (along with many other Cubase/Reason users) that Cubase VST does have Rewire implemented but, unlike some other hosts, it is not possible to link mono Rewire channels so that you can have more than the standard one stereo Rewire channel. Using one of the 8 stereo groups is a limited solution (you soon run out of groups). Stereo Rewire channels are needed to provide stereo VST effects/equalising/mastering etc to stereo rewired outputs. Please could you advise if this will be implemented in Cubase VST - I understand this is possible in Cubase SX but, like many people, I don't have the money to purchase, or time to learn, another version of Cubase and bought Cubase VST5 with the understanding that it would be a sequencer I could use for a good couple of years.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to this query.

Email originally sent 10/08/2004 but no response received. Resubmitted 11/18/2004. Please be kind enough to advise whether my concerns regarding Rewire channels has been/will be considered and what, if any, updates relating to my requests will be implemented.
Thankyou.

Thanx for your mail.
Please be so kind to get in contact with your local Distributor ( where you registered your product ) for your country to get your technical support.

You are joking aren't you? I wait six weeks for a reply then you tell me to contact my distributer. I tried your supplied link to distributers in my area and there are NONE listed in the South East of England! No distributer is going to give me a satisfactory answer anyway - they sell the stuff and are not there to provide back up support on something they sold me over two years ago - if they did then I doubt they would have time to sell anything and would probably be out of business! I find your reply very frustrating and insulting. Keep up the good work.

I don't think pinnacle has a single person familiar enough with Steinberg products to actually provide support sitting in the support department. Seriously (and this is not a rant either).

you should have sent that to steinberg directly .
pinnacle give a sh*t about steinberg stuff as much as you could expect sony to give some about acid or vegas (or other comparisons).
steinberg still exist and are more personally related to their products and supposed to be able to give an answer .

FWIW, they are fairly lame on plain old Pinnacle support too, so don't feel super neglected as a Steinberg customer. I do know how you feel, and it's enough to give me pause about buying Cubase or Nuendo, no matter how tempted I would be to switch.
I use Pinnacle Studio because it does some reasonably cool video things, but it has just become increasingly more of a pain in the ass to install and maintain, and support has been slow to respond to simple things like product keys, the website is a nightmare.
I have other video editors so I'm not stuck with them, but I'm considering making my recent upgrade the last, cutting my losses and just buying Adobe Premiere or something.
I did recently buy Steinberg WaveLab 5, mostly for the DVD-Audio, so hopefully I won't need any major support.
