I’m just glad Amd stirred the pot. We’ve seen more rapid progress in the past 3 years than the past previous 10 . Everyone is kicking it up a notch. A horse race is better than a run away train. Everyone is spurred on by the competition.

Yes, this is the takeaway.

The M1Max is a laptop chip.

Yeah, well done Intel.

The M1 is also used in the Mac mini as Apple dont have a desktop chip apart from Intel. The rumoured M2 desktop chip hasnt arrived yet.

Nice that Intel got something to generate buzz.

For me personally higher performance per watt has become more attractive.. fingers crossed for great risc / windows 11 combo.

Great that Intel tries a bit harder now, thanks to AMD and Apple. Intel has lost a lot of their market share to AMD + Apple.
Competition is good again then. Now Intel got something that can maybe compete with AMD's 3950x and 5950x. Although, AMD is still the leader with their Threadrippers. And don't forget Intels new CPU's used more than 2x the power... Which isn't great for building silent systems like DAWs.

The new Intel chips needs to be tested for AUDIO workloads.
When doing heavy work they produces a LOT of heat...

Well, there will be a new AMD chips compatible with AM4 socket.
I can simple remove my Ryzen and place the new one with the big 3D cache.

The best thing about something like this for me is it pushes down the cost of the other chips that are fast enough for me!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Do you also post like that on AMD threads?

It's a rhetoric question. Of course you don't.

Other than that, it's of course better to wait for independent tests. Emphasis on "independent". So many shills, scandal bloggers, and fanbois these days. Especially when it comes to AMD. Highly political fans.

For me, the XX600K's are usually in the price and performance region I'd absolutely do with. Or... if the PC is cheap enough, also the 700K's.

From Engadget:

“Benchmark leaks suggest that the i9-12900K is faster than Apple's M1 Max chip, but that's also a power-sipping laptop part. A faster, desktop-focused chip from Apple would likely leave Intel lagging behind again.”
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Nice to see some real competition in the CPU market again. AMD, Apple and Intel all trying to beat each other is only good for the consumers.

Talking about rumours and fake news.

Intel though had its fanbois for a long time bashing. Also Intel used mean tactics more than any other vendor in the past. They get their fair share now ;)

I'm also happy for the more alive market now, especially from Apple. Hope the x86 can keep up the next years. Really don't want to move my PC to Arm if x86 hits a wall.

What are you on about, I give rats ass about OS or CPU I'm using or whatever, don't drag me in your fanboy preference wars, UltraJV is name that is tied to number of trolling preference threads like this one, it's what he does, one time he made a thread using snarky comment someone made on some board, just so he have something to troll people with, but I'm afraid he isn't trolling, he is seriously getting kick out of this nonsensical preference wars, wow, good call, you got Intel/AMD CPU, that was serious life decision that marks you as an person, you picked your religion...
